Allegiant Air hiring

Can't say I've heard good things about them. Over the years there have been Allegiant dispatchers leave for regionals, taking a 50% pay cut and giving up any seniority they had gained. That should be a major red flag.

It hasn’t happened since the pay raise ~4 years ago or so. Back then, Allegiant WAS regional pay, so it made sense for people to try to get to a regional that had mainline connections to get in their scope vs. a stand-alone airline. Now the only people that have left in the 2+ years I’ve been here we’re fired...almost all for attendance.

We’re at $27-43.50 over 12 years. Pay should be improved, work rules will be improved, and once the contract is signed, morale will go from decent to great. Still many months away from reaching an agreement though imo.

Lots of OT available, year two at 28.50 x 2080 = 57,00. I picked up a good amount of OT, holiday pay, and with my two bonuses I made 73k. End of contract with a little OT is six figures.

We will be full Airbus by the end of the year. That will help with the reliability concerns, and those were mostly cleared up with that widely spread article that came out after the 60 minutes episode.

The company is doing extremely well, and there have been rumors for years of a merger with one of the other LCC’s. If that never comes to fruition, Vegas is a wonderful place to live. Good weather about 360 days a year, world class entertainment and dining, and cost of living is reasonable.
 
Man those busses are a bitch when temp is 42 or higher at PHX and DEN over 24. Watch those landing weights. Hopefully you get some good engines on them.
 
There has only been one person that has voluntarily left for a regional. There have been others that ended up there but only after a period of time since leaving Allegiant.

The schedules are 4 on 3 off 10 hour days and have instituted "float" lines which are the equivalent of reserve lines.

The bus engines are CFM, as for the temperature response, will find out soon enough.

The company has lost some top level executives and has brought in a CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) not previously affiliated with the company, time will tell what impact this has.

Also, the company has invested in creating Sunseeker Resorts, which is a giant condo project down in Southwest Florida. That said they haven't even started digging a hole in the swamp yet.

Back to dispatch the ability of software is improving with more links between different programs helping automate some basic things and more in the pipe line. As for the merger rumors, if it happens it happens, but we won't know it's happening until they announce it. Finally, while many newer people are happy here, and that is great, there are those here that know this isn't a major and seek to move up.
 
Does Allegiant hire entry level or are they strict with the 2 year experience preferred req? I recently got my license, have 3 years of ramp experience and a B.A. There seems to have been a lot of jobs popping up over the past month but I m barely getting a response. I'm sure this is pretty standard when hunting for the first job.

Unless your internal your chances are pretty slim getting an interview as an entry level candidate.

Alot of regional shops have been posting recently, your best bet is to come on board one of those and get your experience. It's what *most* of us have to do to get anywhere that pays decent

Bear in mind, slim does NOT equal none. Apply. If you never ask the question, the answer is ALWAYS "no".

I hope Allegiant gets their proverbial crap together on the maintenance front. I think the exposé that came out was a real "come to Jesus" moment for management over there, to the betterment of everyone who goes near those airplanes.

I wouldn't be too quick to bad rap anyone who leaves Allegiant. There are many factors at play that you don't know. Some leave for entirely personal reasons unrelated to the company. Some people leave because, well, Las Vegas (you either love it or you hate it... Pretty much no in-between). In my time there I found it amusing that most people I talked to pretty much fell into two categories: Ones who were born there and were looking to leave and those that came there from somewhere else. Las Vegas seems to be a "1 generation town". I personally couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. IMHO Vegas is a great place, in small, measured doses.

I have a feeling I would be on the side of not loving Vegas but I applied anyway since I'm going to sacrifice location to land my first job. I'm not expecting an interview but why not. It seems like a lot of airlines are hiring right now.

Answer: More than a regional tops out at.

I liked it pretty well...but I grew up in a place with a similar climate (Albuquerque.) That being said, I don't miss it that much either, and I've only been back a handful of times since I moved away in late 2002. And I agree with @pljenkins that it never hurts to apply!

If I can escape this city I will not miss the city much.
