I've got a colleague whose daughter is on the "All Star" cheerleading squad that won regionals and state and is now off to the National Championship in Knoxville....All of the girls are from phx and need to get to Knoxville in order to be in the championship...

The dates are Aug 3-6

They're working on fundraising but my colleague is asking me if there's any advantage to chartering a plane or buying group airline tickets vs renting buses and driving cross country...

anyone know how you can get 20-25 girls (6-10 yr olds i think) and 15-20 parents (total @ 35-45 peeps) efficiently and inexpensively across country in August?

Any pilots want to sponsor their trek?

Thats the killer!

hahah!

Kristie, when I was at HP, if you had a group buy their tickets through you, there was a commission. So Maybe that's still set up at some airlines, and the employee commission can be generously donated as well.

You guys are all wrong thats the perfect age. By the time they are ready for "life" you will be in a good job with good money and they can be your trophy wife. Its all about timing at the airlines but so is it with women.

Any single moms? :D
no idea... why you guys gotta be hatin' on lil kids just cuz of their ages eh?! any one of them could still end up being a dallas cheerleader in the future! :) :insane:

10-15 cars, and a BSB CD - it is only 1800 miles.

A 35-40 seat plane would cost a lot more!!

oh man.. I just called DAL group sales.. can't use my discount and nope, no commissions even for employees...

base rate was $470...up to $950 just for one person to get into knoxville and/or nashville...

but hey...I told my colleague he could alway rent buses and it might be cheaper.. who knows!

does anyone know if you can rent a corp jet (that would hold 45) for less than $15-20K roundtrip?? Figure $470/person ends up being about $21K in travel fare alone for 45 ppl...

That's a big airplane, I think it would be more than that. The bus idea would probably be the cheapest, but that's a looooonnnngggg bus ride!

True, but who wants to wait around for that possibility when you can go after someone who's a Dallas cheerleader NOW! :D

one of my friends from school is gonna be one next year if she survives 2? more cuts!

Maybe they could get one of those DC-3's...

Kristie you blew it on this one. You should have waited to disclose their ages until the small fleet of private aircraft, complete with drooling pilots, was at the airport. LOL.

I just looked it up on my former company's website - they are charging $8K an hour for an airplane that holds 14 people(G5 or Global Exp.) and to charter something that holds 45 people would be in the $10-12K per HOUR range.
