Re: Gulfstream/Colgan Article from USA Today

Like other Gulfstream graduates who have gone on to other airlines, those pilots had passed tests administered by FAA representatives and had completed training at their airlines, Bystrom said.

Oh whatever, buddy.

I'm surprised the feds aren't down there tearing through the books right now.

Like I said in a previous thread, we had three students from my flight school that got in trouble once they got to the airlines and we got shut down for a day by the FSDO. Three semi high-profile incidents which didn't involve a loss of separation, damage and especially not any deaths.

We were shut down. No flying, no instruction, doors locked and we're all getting questioned by the SJC FSDO.

I wonder if anyone's palms are getting greased down in that region.

Re: Gulfstream/Colgan Article from USA Today

Is it a coinsidence all these pilots went to Gulfstream or is there something there as far as possible inadequate training? I dont know much about them other than what I read on JC.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say no, it's not a coincidence. The feds should have shut that place down a long time ago.

Re: 2nd WSJ article about Gulfstream airlines/Academy

The FAA said Gulfstream Academy relinquished its certificate as an FAA-approved flight training school on May 12, the day the NTSB opened a public hearing on the Buffalo crash. Not having the certificate limits the type of training the academy can offer

Some preemptive move by the FAA and/or Gulfstream in a CYA exercise?
Sumpin' is rotten in the State of Denmark.

Re: 2nd WSJ article about Gulfstream airlines/Academy

Had a flight instructor who almost plunked down the $$$ to go to Gulfstream. After a long chat, I convinced him it was career suicide. Thankfully, he listened and is a Captain with a frac.

Still a pud, though.

I'm still amazed (as others have said), that folks will still fall for this kind of bunk when there is a TON of information out there regarding these programs and how they are viewed on a professional level.

But, ah well....whaddyagonnado?

would that happen to be one of the big national programs, or a smaller regional program flying mostly Beech products?

Re: WSJ article about Gulfstream Airlines/Academy

Good grief. I'm surprised the FAA isn't all over this.

When I was a CFI, we had three or four mishaps with flight students after they hit the airlines. Then the local FSDO took it as impetus to shut down our flight school temporarily.

Hmm, interesting. So, help me please. Are you saying mishaps can occur from organizations not PFJ/PFT related as well?

. . .trying to gain a big picture perspective.
