FLIPY FLAPS!
I did a few trips to Sleetmute over the last few days, figured I'd show em' off.

This one is past Mount Torbert going west to Sleetmute.

The trip back, Mt. Torbert (if I remember properly) is that first "big" peak from left to right.

Looking back over my shoulder at the setting sun.

Another pic in towards the hills.

Looking out to the left a little bit - this is the highest point of pointy rocks on this trip, the rest isn't so cool.

Just passed between those peaks, here's the shady side.

This is looking at the Alaska Range from a distance from West Looking East. The first set of mountains after the hills towards the right side of the image are called the Revalation Mountains, they all look craggy and rocky and nasty, and they all have cool names like Golgotha, and The Apocalypse, I imagine if you were on the ground and trying to walk over them it'd put the fear of God in ya.

Here's that icewall off of Mount Torbert, I just thought it was cool, sorry for the grainy image.

This was taken at basically the same "point in space" as the others just at a different time of day.

McKinley and Foraker off in the distance.

The Beluga River and the village of Beluga. I used to fly a 207 in here around a million times a day. Kinda nostalgic to fly over it all.

Here's the Alaska Range a little further (about 60 miles or so) north of where Mt. Torbert is coming from Nikolai to Anchorage.

A little closer shot of those peaks. This is between Shellabarger and Simpson Pass - but we don't fly the passes at this company (we pretty much strictly go over the top) so I don't have to worry about impacting any of this terrain generally.

Finally, here's a random picture of Prince William Sound, don't remember if I posted this already, and am too lazy to look.

You're right about the Alaska Range from the ground. Last sheep hunt I can vividly remember just how menacing and otherworldly the mountains were. Many peaks had these real cool, jagged spires rising out of their sides. Add in the fresh layers of snow they were getting in early August and they were pretty damn awesome.

Where did you go sheep hunting?

VG's! Those make any difference?

Quite a bit...but they accumulate ice, so meh. Ultimately, it's the 300lbs gross weight increase that makes people use the VGs up here. Being able to take off at 7368 is what people find helpful. Flaps 40* stall speed at 7368 is 67KIAS, so it's a pretty good kit to have.

No, but a friend used to and I met the previous owner a while back.

Your Russian is good no need for Cyrillic. I'll get to you after xmas. RogerRoger gave me good pointers around PAJN and vicinities. Nome, Kotz and Top of the World are still blank spots as of now.

If I could just convince my wife that I have a very important trip that will take up a couple weeks of vacation, I'd be all over this! :)
