Yesterday night I was invited to go on a tour of the Alaska airlines facility with a family friend who is a mechanic there. Here are some pictures:

Here is the last 737-200C "Mudhen". The aircraft will never fly again. The APU has been taken out and put in another aircraft, and the engines arent functioning anymore. It is being taken to a museum.

Here I am in front of the engine of the worlds first 737-400 Freighter.

It was a beautiful night here last night. The sunset was absolutely amazing. Here are a couple shots in the lighting.

Hope you enjoyed the shots. I really had a blast. The employees at Alaska are awesome. The turned on a cockpit and tested all the lights, and audible warnings. It was awesome.

The hud is cool but its easy to wack your head on lol. It hurts too. Aint notting better than shooting a ILS to 50' and 600rvr

Cool planes and great photography! Alaska Airlines seems like a very good company.

its funny...

a lot of people in alaska can't stand alaska airlines...but it is the "only show in town".

i miss riding the mudhens. i used to take them to work every week. those pilots were the sh...stuff. i guarantee the -200 pilots in alaska were some of the best 737 pilots in the world. i've been in the jumpseat going in and out of Kotzebue, Bethel, Barrow, Deadhorse, Fairbanks, etc....those guys gots thems somes nuts.

. . .still are!

It is pretty cool inside the wheel well. Its something that most people dont see everyday. Inside the 734F they have a hydraulic lever which they can use to open the main cargo door if needed. Pretty neat.

The newer NG wheel wells are downright beautiful. Clean, you can still tell what color the original paint on everything is, no grease or skydrol gunk splattered everywhere.

Alec, by the length of the shadows, I'm going to guess those were taken at about 10:30-11:00pm? My vampire schedules this month are letting me see just how light it stays. I got in at midnight last night and drove home without headlights. I love summer up here!

i spoke wrong...i apologize!!!!

flying into kotz in the middle of the winter during a blizzard is some hardcore stuff that very few people on jetcareers know about.

Fun stuff, I tell ya!

Yeah, the NG wheel wells were amazingly clean.

I got to the airport at 9pm, and didnt leave until almost eleven. So they were all taken in that time frame. I do love the summer up here, except when trying to sleep.:)

I think I have a few permanent scars on my scalp from the hud's display on the CRJ.:D It seems like I bang my head on it everytime I get in the captain's seat.
