I've been reading aviation publications since I was 15 years old. I soloed in 1972 at the ripe age of 16.
When a new airport opened between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth Texas (out in the sticks) there was outrage because a local call at an airport phone booth was 25 cents.
The rest of the country was paying just 10 cents and we used the crap out of phone booths in those days.

Larger paychecks please. I'm happy to push an E170/190 around basically for the rest of my career (yes, I like the thing that much...), but not at this rate of pay, and not with these work rules. The "arrangement" works for now.

I mean, the base closure and consequent move to Southern California was pretty much a defining moment in my young life. And not for the better. I am a product of lousy schools in equally lousy suburbia as a result of it, and other things.
