Are they having problems with their ramp rats? I know the union lost something in court the other day, and my parents flew them today and out of the 3 SNA flights 2 were cancelled, in Seattle there were cancellations, delarys, bags were lost, it was a bit of a nightmare.

So what is going on????

My former student ramped for ATS in SNA which does all Alaska's ground handling(in SNA). He said it is a TOTAL nightmare. The workers found out that in SAN the same group was getting a $1.25 more per hour and all called in sick for a few days. He said 2 or 3 out of 11 showed up to work. Mgmt caved in and gave them a raise and they went back to work. But from what I hear, the manager has been fired, they've hired a bunch of new people and none of them know what they're doing. Don't take Alaska out of SNA!

The pilots had a deal for binding arbitration in their contract. The arbitrator sided with the company on pay issues and forced between 25 and 34 percent pay cuts on the pilot group, depending on if you were a Capt or an F/O. This rather upset the pilot group and ever since then, Alaska has been a mess. I heard the company has scrambled to come up with a new contract that restores some of the cuts and a vote is about to be taken. I'm sure once it settles, things will be back to normal.
