Alaska Airlines is hiring pilots

Just came out on the OWAP site too.

:)

Wait to talk to United/SWA/Virgin/Airways at OBAP Career fair 2 days ago: Less than 5 minutes
Wait to talk to same airlines at OWAP Career fair(fltops.com) yesterday: 2+ hrs
Both fairs were in the same hotel. Only difference is OBAP fair didnt have the foreign airlines

BTW, you don't have to be black to join OBAP! Join up, show up, help out in your community and the tremendous networking opportunities will naturally come

So it says you have to have an ATP, but then it says the min age is 18.... You have to be 23 to get an ATP. I'm 22 and don't have an ATP. Do I qualify?

He hates VA because they're non-union and they're direct competition to Alaska. If nothing else, Alaska should step up their game. Virgin has one of the best products out there, and their FA's are TOP NOTCH...how do I get a position on the FA hiring board...
Gotcha. Oh well. Several guys from Alaska came over to VA. I believe Alaska furloughed in 2008, some guys came to VA, and they are Captains now. I've heard guys have turned down the callback to Alaska. It be hard to give up a Captain seat making six figures to go back to reserve FO at Alaska.

I have been too busy to check out thee forum. Was in Utah picking up a truck I abandoned months ago, heard from my former boss they were hiring. Drove 12 hours yesterday and got my app in just before the window closed.

Good luck to all that applied.

For me I just apply, or in this case re-apply, update often and try to forget about it

For me its kind of like the lottery ticket I buy on occasion. You can't win if you don't play. I buy it put it in my wallet and dream about what I'd do with that many million dollars, it worth the dollar I invested. Unlike other major airlines though I know Alaska hires current and former freight pilots.

Hey anyone know what is currently going on at Alaska Airlines?

I am wondering how many they plan to hire in the next few years, what is the growth forecast over there? I hear a lot about other airlines but it is pretty quiet from Alaska.

What is competitive to get hired? How many are they hiring? 50 year? 100 year? What is the Jr. Domicile for FOs?

Anyone currently working there?

I wish some of these airlines would do some mentoring, maybe they do, but if I had a good roadmap with the intricacies of how to get to Alaska Airlines I would commit to it. I wohld love to work there.

I couldn't agree more. I think that the "roadmap" is to find someone who works there and ask a lot of questions.

The word is hiring at least 150 this year possibly 200. The most they can train is around 20 a month and there are classes of 20 a month planned indefinitely. The hiring is for growth and retirements

I flew with a captain last week whom was hired by Alaska. During the interview, they told them that AS wants to double in size by 2020. For what it is worth.

That would be nice, we'll see if it actually happens
