I've had "steak" on the plane, and if it looked like this at some point, it certainly didn't when the FA handed it to me. But I imagine service back then could have included such a thing. That would have been wild, steak to order at 37,000 ft, what a world!!!

The Beechers Mac and cheese is good, but I never ore-ordered it for the plane, have only gotten it at the terminal at PAE, which with its grand total of two gates, is a hidden gem of easy in / easy out, to avoid SEA, if I’m driving to places north of PAE.

I’v regularly had $500 a plate steak and lobster halfway across the Atlantic. Or between NYC and LA for that matter. Ordered from restaurants that didn’t do take out, so we would have to call and talk to the chef directly and pick up our catering from the back door of the restaurant.

I was also flying a billionaire around, so it went with the territory.

We also had post flight cocktails handed to us by the FA, right before she handed me the vacuum and said get to work. So there’s that.

I think the biggest shell shock when I got to the airlines was the lack of food and long lunches, and the state of the avg lavatory.

Forgot all about any of it the first time I saw my 401k and I clicked out sick without fear of immediate repercussions

You should see the state of the average lav at UPS. Heck, in the 727 days we had a porta potti and it was discouraged to poop in it.

It’s my go to. There is also a salad that’s made by Evergreens. It’s got avocado and quinoa. It’s not bad. The only time I see it is on 61 through SE AK.

Eating uncooked produce on an airplane is a big gamble, especially considering all of the issues lately.

That's sort of fine. The chicken can be really hit or miss, but I'll at least eat the pasta. We have had better pasta offerings in the past though. I'm not sure if this is on the FC menu or just crew meals, but the brisket breakfast hash is actually not bad, and none of those things are normally things I like.

This thread inspired me to make an actual good version of the chicken pesto pasta haha. My breath could murder a vampire right now

I've got no prob with any of the individual ingredients. And it could all come together really well. But its sky chef truck conveyor belt meal so it doesn't. I appreciate the effort and intent, from whoever came up with it though. I love people who care about food.
