Airports that are not operated or attended 24/7?

Besides the whole waking up thing, that is my favorite time to fly. Nothing better than sipping your coffee and enjoying the sunrise, with smooth air and a quiet frequency.
I work a very busy airspace during the week. The times when it's slow and I'm only talking to a couple airplanes and don't need to say anything for more than five minutes, someone will usually ask for a radio check because of how silent it is. Yep, I'm still here.

Try flying outta White Plains. The noise nazis would stand at the airport fence with watches and video cameras and God help the crew that started up too soon and violated the noise curfew.

I flew in and out of there for almost 9 years. Never had that problem but there wasn't a noise curfew anymore then, at least for RJ staged aircraft.

Hate that place so much.

More than Dayton?

We used to overnight there at a hotel that was being converted to an old folks home, floor by floor. If you got a room on the Alzheimer floor, you had to call downstairs to be let off the floor. Downstairs at 4:30p was the line for the cafeteria. Use your imagination.

Frelling creepy isn't a strong enough phrase. The only other place close in creep factor was the no-name across the street from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Both places still give me the cobby wobbles when I think about them.

It is a glamorous life we lead.

Aspen has a curfew, no flying allowed after hours. Before operations start up at 7am, there's usually a hot air balloon or two off the end of the runway.

What happens when the captain(s) come back from the end of the runway?

When did so many operators get opspecs that don't honor an AWOS? Ya'll need to get with the feds and get that fixed. Or if you're 135, I'd recommend looking into Eligible on Demand.
Get with the feds and get that fixed...this is the same government where one office will approve an iPad mount that suction cups to the window for an air carrier while another one will flat out refuse to even consider it because it causes to much visual impairment out the side window.

I always hated being the first guy to start an apu in the morning, especially at smaller airports. The birds where chirping, the breeze in the trees was relaxing.... Then bam. Apu noise.

That is the best time to fly in the summer and be part of the "Dawn Patrol". Unfortunately the departure is right over a subdivision and the Class B airspace keeps me very low.

Graveyard is where it's at. So long as getting home before sun comes up. :)
