Airports, in general...

On the rare occassion they land Rwy 27 its the place to be.

Yes I fondly remember rwy. 27 landings nothing like seeing a 757/767-300,400 or 777 fly over your head only several hundred feet.

In all my years working and living at CVG I have never seen a rwy. 9 departure now that would be something truly awesome.

The Downwind restaurant at PeachTree Dekalb airport in Atlanta is the place to be for GA aircraft. PDK (Peachtree Dekalb) is the second busiest airport in Georgia and there is something going on there all the time. Everything from biplanes, helos, bizjets, and the occasional Piper Cub will be in the pattern.

DCA, DCA, DCA.. Gravelly Point, right on the GW parkway.. great view of the ENTIRE runway complex, the terminals, and when runway 19 is in use, landing planes fly 150 ft overhead.. You can also spot the Marine helo's across the river (that take the president from the White House to Camp David or ADW), and have a fantastic view of the monuments, Capitol, etc. There is also a marina on the south side of the airport which is decent.

KSLC has a really pretty observation park (with benches) at the corner of 34R... but about 6 months ago they put up cement dividers in the entrance to prevent cars from going in..last I heard they're planning to close it for security reasons *rolls eyes*

I used to sit there even in the middle of winter with my digital camera and EVERY time got told to leave my airport police *sigh* but still really pretty area.
