Airport '75 revisited

Wonder if any of the -37s will be bought out of the boneyard and put into private hands. Would make a nice airshow historical piece. And for fun, remove the spin strakes and paint it in early schemes.

One of the last Tweet classes at Sheppard had a kid seeking designs for a class patch. I had recommended an echelon formation of 3 Tweets flying into a sunset: Lead Tweet in the current white upper half / blue lower half scheme used from 1993-current; an all white Tweet (like in the video) as #2...such that was used from about mid-'70s to 1993; and a bare-metal Tweet as #3, representing the early years pre-mid '70s.

Don't know if it was ever used.

I watched that film a while back. Man KIAD looks so empty back then. I do not even think Concourse A/B or C/D even existed back then. IT was just the main terminal.

I also wonder why a T-37 was picked as chase plane for the movie? Cost? It had to fly up from PHX to SLC to work, when they could've used F-4E Phantoms out of the active duty 388th Tactical Fighter Wing at right there in SLC at Hill AFB, or F-105Bs from the AF Reserve 508th Tactical Fighter Group, also at Hill. THUDs escorting the 747 would've been cool...
Fixed. The 419 TFW didn't come along til much later, close to when their Vipers did.

Ah. I do remember when they were F-105s under the 419th when they got rid of them in '84, but they were indeed the 508th earlier.

They were at the '82 Luke AFB airshow, where they had a lineup of Century Series.......an F-100, an F-101B from the Texas Air Guard, a QF-102, a German TF-104G from Luke, an F-105 from Hill, and an F-106 from the California Air Guard at Fresno. Still got that pic somewhere.

That would be nice to keep a few of these flying. Still bummed about the F-14. Should have given one to the Collins foundation like they did with the F-4.

Do you guy remember how much extra gas you could get in the wings if a student push the tail to the ground. A lot of the crews that stopped in KBTL for gas would do that.
