I was just watching Fox News and caught this breaking news. It looks like a PA-28 series. I couldn't catch the N number. Hope it's not a JCer...

RIP to the fallen regardless.

I genuinely hope we don't have a compound tragedy by having lost another JCer. I hardly knew Ben at all, but his loss was almost more than I could bear to think about.

Even distant 'family' is still 'family'.

Crap...we have a couple in our JC extended family that work out there. RIP fellow aviator.

I was at DVT for an interview when it happened and the call came in! Just got home, from what I saw, from the road, the plane looked to be in decent shape, however, after seeing the footage, I now understand! :( The plane is facing south and unless they change the pattern, every aircraft turning final from base will have to fly directly over the site.

A very sad incident, indeed. Way to much of his happening this month!

God Bless!

Snagging a powerline will negate any attempt at a controlled landing. I personally know someone who put a plane down on a roof to avoid this. As he said later.."Those wires are like big ass cheese cutters."

One thing that I notice right away when we moved here from the Midwest. There ain't no farm fields to set down in! The terrain here is a lot more unforgiving!

Saw that very plane when we flew into IWA. Very sad. Did he catch a wire turning on final is that what explains the right wing being severed?
