I just got a call 2 hours ago. I feel like I've been kicked in the stomach. I got one of the runs out of Hawthorne. 
I'm still not sure how I feel about this. I was #20 on the seniority list, and I just knew they wouldn't be calling me. Well....they did. I have to report back for training next week.
My wife is pretty upset, because she's never been left alone before. I tried to explain to her that up till now we've been lucky. That 95% of pilots don't have the jobs I've had, where I'm home every night. We've talked about the possibility of my career requiring me to be gone from home a lot, and now we have to face it.
I really wanted this, but now that I have it, I'm not sure how I feel. My family's life has been turned upside down. I'm neither happy or sad. I hate leaving my family behind. For now, assuming I get through training again (I've been away for a year now), I'll commute home on most weekends. Dallas runs open up pretty frequently, so if I can get over there, I'm only a 50 min Southwest flight away.....
If I would have made a list of people I expected to call me today, Airnet would have been at the very bottom! We're all still in shock and disbelief over here. I really don't know what else to say. YEAHHHHHHHH??????? I think!

You can refuse recall for up to a year. If the HHR thing isn't going to work that may be a good idea.
...and next week?
So they want us to give them the courtesy of extending a two weeks notice, but they apparently don't care that we extend the same courtesy to other employers? Shame shame shame.

Sorry, Mispoke there, I have up to two weeks, but I'm going in sometime next week.
I already refused a run back in December, and you only get one refuse, so this is it, take it, or leave the seniority list!
Ah okay, that makes more sense.
Yeah I think that's it. Once per furlough, right? :dunno:
Hey, at least you're "in the door" again and you can bid something when/if'n anything comes open.

yeah, that's what I was thinking. I don't want my wife to move, she opened up her own cleaning business and it's really taken off. So she's staying here with our daughter. ADS has runs open up pretty frequently, so maybe I can make my way over there. I'd be a bit closer. Still gone all week, but I would have a little more time to spend on the weekends with the commute being a 50 min Southwest flight.
I hear ya. The commute is why I didn't bid this time. I'd waste 2/3 of my "weekend" trying to get back and forth. And with our killer commuter clause, that's not necessarily something I'd want to deal with.
