Airnet Pilots Serious Question

braunpilot

What day is it?
I am with FLX and it seems like a lot of Airnet pilots think that we, FLX, is trying to take your jobs. I am the first one to tell you that I do not want to take your job, as previously stated. I really would rather see all pilots off fourlough before FLX and Airnet "Codeshare."

I honestly want to know how worried you are about FLX taking away your runs. I actually look towards Airnet and a possible next step in my career and DO NOT want to step on anyones toes. Seriously, what are you thoughts?

HAHAHAHAHAHA THROWING IN ERRONEOUS DATA HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I DON'T WORK THERE HAHAHAHAH.

But seriously, flamebait, or just uninformed, I would be more worried about FLX going tango uniform in this economy before I'd be worried about "code sharing" just from what I've read on JC. and frankly, it doesn't look like FLX is going anywhere either.

I think maybe the concern is that there are Airnet guys on furlough and FLX is hiring. It's a valid concern. I prefer to think that they're still being run separately enough that each management organization is still just looking to their own needs, but one can easily see the spectre of a whipsaw looming (eg. Well, we just don't have a place for you in the Lears anymore, but we can get you a "preferential interview" to fly a 210...)

I'm 100% certain that Ernst and the management I knew at FLX would be unhappy with that sort of arrangement, but in the end the people signing the checks make the calls.

That said, I don't think it's time to panic yet. Most likely, FLX is hiring to cover its runs and Airnet is working to recall their guys. But it's worth consideration. One hopeful sign is that there isn't much of a wage disparity between the two, in fact I think on average FLX probably pays a little bit better than Airnet for the props.

Yup... plus the pilots aren't doing anything. The pilots have zero control over who flies what routes.

In the past few months Airnet pilot traffic at JC has has stagnated when it used to be robust. Freight guys in general have a tendency to internalize problems while regional guys tend to spray theirs all over the internet. The relative silence from my freight brethren over the last couple months has me worried to tell the truth.

Of course it's a concern with the Airnet pilot group. Plain and simple. Nothing personal with FLX pilots, but this management team will do anything to preserve revenue. It *will* happen. FLX will take our runs away.

It's not all gloom n doom (assuming things are run intelligently). Yeah, FLX is liable to take some prop runs with their cheaper 210s, but there's also the fact that having additional lift can grow business neither company would have had on its own. For example, it's not impossible that some companies that use FLX would like to send some things further or faster using the same system/vendor. In addition, while I can see the argument for an FLX 210 being cheaper than an Airnet Baron, I doubt very much that an FLX Baron is significantly (if at all) cheaper than an Airnet Baron. Remember, Airnet has "taken" routes from FLX in the past. The economies are pretty close.

Glad to see the sense of humor. Seriously, these are tough times and I am glad people can keep it light!

Sounds like someone else we know, doesn't it?

That's it. It's official. FLX pilots are scabs!:sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm::rolleyes:

I hope not! But glad people are poking fun at the question. It's too serious of a question. I almost regret posting it but I wanna know. It's nothing against Airnet I just wanna see so that if I can help, talking to the Dir Ops or the Cf Plt then I will seriously!

Thanks for all the comments to this point already. Thanks Boris. Sounds like someone wanting to fly.:panic: I am sorry that your new run hasn't started yet. Good luck.

You can't be a scab if you show up to work expecting one thing and then something completely different happens.

Boris, I agree to a point. Yes, one of the reasons given for this merger was to leverage the buying power of the two companies for fuel discounts, overhead, etc., but the inevitability of this, I believe, is a consolidated, leaner company. The new company probably won't look anything like either show currently does. Probably few or no Learjets, no set pilot schedules, lots of on-call, you get my point. In the meantime, the scales will tip either which way until there is a balance. Currently one company looks to be way heavier than the other. Somethings gotta give. I certainly hope that you're right and we continue to grow when we combine. However, since the furloughs at Airnet I have seen no net growth to speak of (gained ADS, lost a few runs companywide last month).

The guys who run the show will do whatever they want and the pilots and even chief pilots will have no control at all. Airnet is a lost cause. I'll try and improve the place up until my friends and I can weather the downturn in the industry then STFD.

I count 34, however only 17 of those are PIC qualified and a majority of those 17 took voluntary furloughs so they aren't all smack at the bottom of the senority list.

I know of 4 open runs right now and 2 more reserve positions that are open.

I would have gone to airnet, that would have been my first choice in the whole industry until this went down, now I'm a little more reticent. I think I might have to leave the bush for the dreaded regional soon.
