Airlines dissapearing

You all know when Eastern, TWA, PanAm and those airlines went away. Is it possible that it might happen soon again with the current majors like American, United, or another airline? Also, what caused the older airlines to close? I know PanAm had that 747 terrorist thing and it helped but what else caused it.
 
I think endangered is a better word then disappearing..but aren't United and US Airways in fear of extinction?

Hey, Brian...I'll never tease you again (and I can probably persuade quite a few others to stop teasing you...) if you go to the library and the internet, find hard sources (and maybe 2 electronic ones) and write a short 2-page essay telling US what happened to Pan-Am.


Think you're up to it? I bet you'll even have some fun doing it, and you'll start to get a feel of what college is like!!!

This is a one-night assignment in college...lol.

Lloyd has a point, a nice 2 page short answer is a good way to get your feet wet with this whole research thing; and it's something you only get good at the more you do. You'll probably find out some really interesting stuff, and see the reasons why we don't have the wages that we used to in the industry. It'll also show you what NOT to do with an airline to keep it afloat.
 
One night? HA! That's like a 15 minute essay question on an exam! I know I didn't ran into this in aviation, but now I'll seriously have to write out a solid 8-9 pages by hand within an hour if I want to pass most my classes.

I got started and I found a website saying everything that happened. I find it hard making it into something I did. Do I rephrase it or what?

Brian, from what I understand the finals we are taking in high school are nothing compared to actual college exams. I bet any of these college grads on the forum looks back and thinks "Man, high-school exams were so easy."

You use that as one of your sources. You see, if you just re-word what they said without giving credit to that author, you're just plagiarized!! That'll fail you in a whole course, or get you kicked out of school!!!

Remember, the stipulations stated two hard sources - books or papers or magazines....then, after you have those, you can augment that info with a website.

Why can't you just use the website? well, you'll learn more about that later. Mostly, because any 15 year-old kid can make a website without knowing what (s)he's talking about!!
 
When you have a few 25 page papers to turn in that are all assigned on the same day and due exactly a week later, you let me know.

I think all the professors get together and make sure they have papers due on the same day....

This is amazing so far how similar this event was to today. How it was a terrorist attack and the American air travel security issues came up. Notice how there was also a George W. Bush there when it happened.
