Very tragic.

On another note...

"I've been here since 1996, and the only one time before did we have a fatal accident at the airport," he said. That accident occurred about 10 years ago when a pilot did not take the control lock off the aircraft when he took off and the instruments were locked, Trimborn said. Two people died in that accident, he said.

Wow forgot to take out the control lock. You have to be kicking yourself over that one on the way down.

About as far as I go with the whole "'fly west', 'climb unlimited', 'setting sun', 'footsteps in the sand', 'godspeed' (what does that even mean?) etc" bs is saying I hope he went out fast and it wasn't his fault. You missed a cliche. My favorite is "at least he died doing what he loved". I am pretty sure that unless some "loves" losing an engine on take off and trying to avoid houses, determining he can't make it to a safe landing, trying to make the desperate 210 degree turn back to the runway and then spinning in from low altitude that he DID NOT die doing what he loved to do. I always thought that was a silly thing to say. I love flying, but not enough to relish dying in an airplane. Now, if I expire during a menage with Marisa Tomei and Danica McKellar, then yes - I want someone to put that in the post announcing my death here at JC...other than that though, don't assume any upside to my demise.
