Airliner water

Reminds me of the “simulator cooties” paranoia pilots. Alcohol wipes flying everywhere. Anyone who has had small kids knows better. I’m still firmly convinced that in 10 years the official line from AMA will be to skip washing your hands in most situations. The four cardinal sins of our time are as follows:

-not washing your hands
-littering
-not wearing a bicycle helmet
-not wearing a seatbelt

Try this one on your moral majority PC highbrow set; while rolling down the freeway, unbuckle your seatbelt and throw a piece of trash out of the window. Watch the sheer terror on people’s faces. I’m not kidding!

I dunno. A bunch of our crews were just taken out by a bug because one tool wouldn’t ground himself. Al-in-all, I think in total there were over 80+ work days lost because macho man wouldn’t take 3 day off.

Which is pretty much the most ineffective way to do it. Expensive as well.

Irony alert: The most effective product I've every seen for that task (and I worked in a microbiology lab) was pulled from the market because people complained it had "stuff" in it. You really can't make this s4!t up.

Skin is remarkably effective in keeping bugs out. Even when you touch your face as long as you don't insert your fingers into any mucus membranes or fecal material.

A$$hats sneezing and coughing on people, however, is not cool, and a sure way to catch something.

Oh yea, don't keep your pigs and chickens under the same roof, and then sleep next to them. That's bad, m'kay?
 
I avoid airplane water and coffee as much as I can. I was a cleaner for USairways at one point in my life and I know how many people didn't clean things they were supposed to when that was largely their only job, especially on RON.

The holding tanks sure, but what about the coffee pots, coffee makers,etc? They aren't getting cleaned like they should and its entirely possible its with the same rag used to wipe down the lav (I've watched it happen, in abject horror) "Line Maintenance Utility" (cleaners) at USairways topped out at $17/hr in 2002. What's the person now making slightly above minimum wage who also has to run the ticket counter and throw bags going to do when tasked with cleaning? As little as possible.

That said, the ones who swab the cockpits with alcohol wipes I don't get either. Airplanes are filthy, a pennies worth of alcohol and paper isn't going to do much. I'm always appalled at the people who I see leave public restrooms without washing their hands. Especially when they leave a stall.... ick.

Personally, I wash my hands before I go. God knows where my hands have been.

I didn't drink the coffee at the last job, I do at the current one.

1) I'm often the one making it, so if it's really gross I know.
2) There's a big box that says "FILTER INSIDE" in the galley. I'm sure it's the original one delivered with the airplane, but I'm a big fan of ignorance is bliss. (Ok, that's not true. If it was Trump supporters wouldn't be the most miserable people on the planet)
3) With the lengths of our duty days (heh, duty), not drinking coffee is a lot more dangerous than whatever is in the potable water.
