AirlineApps?

So is it just me or does anyone else think the whole process of going through airlineapps.com is ridiculous? Also, the fact of paying $60 for it is not easy for some people who are struggling anyway. Sure you get one free, but are you really going to just apply to one place? I have filled out more information on airlineapps than I had to for a Law Enforcement/Federal job. Whatever happened to just submitting a resume to a company? The way the want you to break down the flight time is crazy! Isn't that what a logbook is for when you go into an interview...so they can look at your times and review it?

What's your thoughts?

I know it's because there are so many applicants for jobs, this makes it easier on the airlines, blah, blah, blah, so don't mention that fact.

I wouldn't have my job if I didn't pay that 60 bucks.

Just gotta do what you gotta do. I hated having to pay that.

I really wish I would have come up with something like AirlineApps, I'd be making A LOT of money!

And yes, I think it is complete BS having to pay $60 to apply for a regional airline job that starts out at 18k/year.

Guys there is a way around this that I myself have used. You only get one free app PER EMAIL. Sign up for another email address on hotmail or gmail and fill out another app for free. Yes, it is a pain to input all the times, etc all over again but thats what cut and paste is for.

It sucks, it's a pain to fill out, ridiculous to pay, but look at it from management's perspective..

Looking through thousands of resumes?? You know how easy it is to have everything sorted for you and organized? That's just what airlineapps does. As long as it's convenient for them, it will suck for us.

it's the same reason people pay for crap like climbto350 and take jobs where they have to pay to sit right seat. if the person thinks that paying money will get them a better chance at flying for the airlines, they'll gladly pay whatever the costs.

Except several airlines ONLY accept an application through AirlineApps.

I've got no problem with the system as you can have unlimited free ones (although it does require a lot of data entry).

I think the owner of that site is friends with the owner of this site for what it's worth.

No it's not just you. I think virtually everyone that has to use that site hates it. I myself especially hate it because after having my account there for a while I got on with one of the airlines just be emailing them my resume. Also another case I had to actually go to an open house to be noticed even though I had the same exact resume in airline apps for a long time. I don't know, I guess I don't like the fact that I am trusting a 3rd party unknown website to forward my resume, if an airline wants as a ridiculously thorough application as airlineapps has then all they have to do is set one up on their site. It's a conspiracy.

They don't 'forward' your resume. The system works like this.

HireU Airways contracts with Airlineapps.

HireU Airways determines that it wants pilots with at least 2500 TT, 500 ME, 250 ME PIC, clean airman record, no more than 1 checkride bust and 135 experience. They type it into the system and voila, the pool of applicants that match their qualifications is displayed.

I've seen a couple of different airlines use AirlineApps and if you don't match their quals, you won't even show up to the system. It actually saves HR a lot of time sorting applications and resumes and then complying with employment law.

I don't like it either but it is a whole lot cheaper for the airlines. I'd wager a bet the airilnes get the service for free and the pilots are footing the bill when it should be the other way around.

Exactly. For what it's worth, outside of aviation land, companies hire head hunting firms to find qualified talent, and the company pays the head hunting firm.

if the airlines wants to save time by not having to wade through applications, then the airlines need to come up with a system to do that without having us, the pilots, pay for it. The only reason why airlineapps.com (and climbto350) exists is because the airline hiring industry knows that the pilot community for the most part are the type to gladly pay for such services without batting an eyelash.

This is true. If you search around the internet, you'll have a hard time finding any non-aviation employment site that actually has the gall to require job seekers pay money to apply to a job. Only in aviation folks...

It wouldn't be so bad if most airlines didn't have you fill out the EXACT same info into their own forms once you get the interview/job.

A fancy way of describing supply and demand, if you ask me. I think the AirlineApps system is pretty silly too. But it probably won't change until pilots are in short supply (to the airlines) because they are finding jobs at places that don't require them to pay for it.
