How many asses you gonna kiss tonight?

*crosses Bumblebee's name off the list* Yeaaaah. Definitely time to go do something else. ;)

Ahh hell, one more... DrunkenBeagle totally kept me from killing my dumb self on a mountain today. He's a rock star skier and a really good instructor. Copper Mountain was totally mocking me, but he helped me give the mountain a wedgie.

This disgusting habit of refering to pilots as bus-drivers denigrates our profession and what we do. There are so many differences in; education, operational environment, and personal qualities needed. We transport passengers from A to B, and that's the only similarity there is. The work regimes are different, bus-drivers have other concerns and problems than pilots, and I'm sure they solve them with the same level of professionalism.

The fact that you can go from zero to the cockpit in a few months means nothing. It takes years, even decades to become a highly skilled aviatior. 10 minutes to become a crap one.. (kamikaze)

I agree completely. I mean, I was under the impression that airline pilots were sky gods, had amazing interpersonal skills to match their obvious technical wizzardry, were all handsome and all considerate and tender lovers. And then I heard someone compare them to a bus driver and it completely wrecked my view of not only the profession, but also the people that undertake it.

The fact that it is "disgusting" to be compared to a bus driver doesn't build up the piloting profession, it tears down the bus driving profession.

:yeahthat:

The average idiot can drive a bus. The average idiot cannot fly a plane, let alone even start it. The main problem is a bunch of insecure guys here who need to grow a pair and tell these people to sit down and shut up. Dumb people respect strength, show it.

Seriously. And why are people so afraid of being "skilled laborers"? Pilots, truckers, bus drivers, electricians, plumbers, etc... all the same service class. Barriers to entry do not necessarily define value to society. And don't pull the "wake up every day excited, so it's different" card on me, this is a JOB like any other. I'm obligated to be present and teach for money. I'm sticking with it because I know it and I'm good at it. That means it's a JOB.

Time to go teach some future bus drivers...

Where is the insecurity Stesta. Is the insecurty of people that "need to grow a pair and tell people to sit down and shut up" or is it the insecurity YOU exhibit? I'm glad you can start an airplane. How many ways have you started an airplane? I'm up to three - Hand Propping, using a starter, and using a hand-cranked inertia starter. Does this mean I'm more awesome than the average idiot that has only used one or two methods of starting an airplane? I'm glad you're all puffed up about not being "an average idiot" that can drive a bus, but can instead pilot airplanes - but can you concieve of how your post would denigrate a bus driver?

Is this some kind of joke? I keep looking around for Alan Funt in the bushes...

You can start and fly an airplane! WOW. Move over, Louis Pasteur, we have a THOROUGHLY MODERN hero now.

Edit: Oh look he has a PPL, "1000TT, 55 PIC". Forget Pasteur, MOVE OVER BOB HOOVER.

There are a million and one reasons to go into a career or not go into one. What someone who doesn't sign your paycheck thinks isn't one of them.

Do you think that A-Rod or Albert Pujols give a rat's ass that people think they're overpaid? Nope, and neither do the Yankees or the Cardinals, and those are the people writing those checks.

When it comes to your career, the only people who matter are you and the person who's writing the checks. Everyone else is irrelevant.

So someone thinks you're a glorified bus driver. So what?

Boris and I will contribute $100 (between us) to the first mod who changes Stetsa's name to "Louis Hoover" or "Bob Pasteur" or even "Bob Louis Pasteur Hoover".

Guesses on age? I'm thinking 17, maybe 18.
