Airline Pilot Side Businesses

Or check the Dept of Ed for your states web site. Here it is pretty easy to be a sub. Course our teachers all stink for the most part. The pay in Charleston is around $50 a day.

Yeah, in NY its pretty easy to do it too. I did it for a few days at my old high school while I was home visiting my parents. Pay isn't too bad, I probably should look into doing it more often around here.

I applied to do this last year after I got laid off. All you needed was a college degree and three references they could contact. I believe the pay was about $100 a day.

I'm doing computer upgrades and network installation on the side while I'm instructing. It pays the rent.

One 737 Captain I know is a attorney, then a 737 FO runs a printing shop, and a MD88 Captain that runs a home business. My dad was a 727 captain and for awhile he ran a photo shop business in FL, but lost interest in it.

Lose interest, then lose principal.

I'd like to do some fine art photography, have a site, and sell prints on-line. Don't know if I'll ever get there, but it's a really nice (and expensive) hobby right now. I'm looking forward to being up north (Alaska) starting this summer and capturing some of that.

I would love to be a taxi driver on my days off. Although getting into real estate would be nice. Also I would love to be some sort of dive instructor. Hell there are so many options available. But I wonder how these pilots find time to work on there days off. Surely if your away for weeks at a time why would you want to come home when you should be with your family, relaxing, and doing chores why would you want to work more?

I realise money is an issue for most pilots but won't you burn yourself out doing all this extra work?

You'd probably be better off selling through local galleries that feature regional artists. The galleries would take a percentage as commission, but it's a lot easier than trying to sell on-line if your goal is to make money.

Enjoy Alaska!
