When I was ORD based with AA (pre-9/11) I had a F-100 line that included a ORD-MSP flight at dinner time. I had to serve a full dinner in first class. Granted it's only 8 people, but it is damn near impossible to serve a full dinner with drinks & dessert to 8 people (not to mention all the PAs & compliance checks) when the flight time (from takeoff to touchdown) is about 42 minutes.
Just an example of a great service concept (full dinner in first class, great!) but on a 42 minute flight?! Geez....
