Airbus is getting rather nasty

You mean you don't like being gone for weeks at a time flying to some god forsaken third world cesspool? But you are in a "heavy", albeit a "light heavy". At least they compensate you well for all the time on the road.

But we have slats, and I get to say "truck tilt" when talking about the gear.

Here's a NSFW song that explains part of the experience of being on such a pond crossing and having to figure out how to pee in a bag while also wearing the immensely bulky exposure suit.

Like, LIKE.

Secondly, I feel his pain. In my old age I actually think about things like engine failure and the results. On our "risk assessment" sheet, "surface IMC over entire route of flight" gets I think 2 points. It takes 55 points to obligate us to refuse the flight. The airplane would basically have to take off on fire with a wing missing an no operable instruments for our "risk assesment" to demand that we not fly. Surface low IMC over the entire route in a single engine airplane? Let's be serious, you're probably going to die if the engine fails, cause while we're not over the North Atlantic, we also aren't sitting on a bunch of explosives. Wait, that makes it sound better...

Course you wouldn't know anything about that, flying around with your TWO engines. Pansy. :)

Ya, well honestly, in a single engine airplane. IFR cover and/or night operations would be a no go for me. That means I'd turn down 98% of our flights. Wonder how long I'd have a job, lol.

Wow, you must be, I mean, must have an enormous Johnson! :)

Yesh, the Johnson Rod is what tilts this here gear.

Be glad you don't have to fly wearing a 'poopy suit', either. A 12-hour flight from Las Vegas to the UK, including an Atlantic crossing, wearing a poopy suit, strapped to an ejection seat and unable to stand up and stretch your legs, is a truly character building experience.

No pee tube? And why not firewall it!

A previous workplace of mine did not authorize us to transit areas of low IFR (fine, whatever) in the 206. We also couldn't operate on top in mountainous terrain (which I can understand).

We were additionally limited to 1000/3, which is downright insulting when you're in Camarillo and you KNOW that the marine layer is about 300' thick, and that it's Perfect VFR on top and everywhere else. Someone let the risk managers run a little too amok.

That's roughly what our single engine rotors have for limits. The are on a VFR cert. No on top 1000-3 day, and I think it's 2000-5 night. They do have NVG's to. I'd basically apply that to operating a SE at night as well, which would mean there would be no point in even having a fixed wing. Daytime, I'd be comfortable with less.

FWIW I just saw a real live 787 in SEA.

It reminded me of a catalog model. Might look nice in the pics, but man, not so hot in person.

Gotta love Photoshop. That's one ugly critter. Makes the 330 look like teh hotness.

Looks funny, and probably dreadfully boring to fly. NEXT.

Spitfires kind of hit me like that. It isn't heinous looking in person, but it does not look as good as its pictures either. Me109's look just as brutal and totalitarian as their pics, but the Spit, at least on the ground, does not look as good as pics.
