I'm kind of curious what you think is the active ingredient on those that isn't working. Thoughts and prayers?
I can't understand the Chinese without them.
As do most people. Thing is loud.
Also earplugs when I'm in the back.

I might start bringing my own for that reason as well, to be honest. The ship’s sets work decently well, but as the jets age I’m sure the seals will get noisier.
My current objection to them is carrying one more damn thing to work

I hear you. I tried to get by using the ships headset but after two trips of not having any idea what anyone was saying, especially on HF, it was time for the Pro X

I flew EWR/JFK to SFO/LAX (that literally was my “route”) for 5+ yrs and used a Telex 850 ANR the whole flight.

Actually the MD is extremely quiet in cruise. I use the shipsets because paranoia will destroy ya.

It's hysterical... they'll go topless all flight, never hearing anything anybody says on the radio, then go out for beers and every time, without fail, every other thing said is "what", "huh", etc. Try headsets before you're completely deaf, people.

People take so much for granted. Like the ability to hear good from both ears. I was born with some level of congenital deafness in one ear. I can hold a 1st class med just fine. Still, I’m in NO position to risk anything for my hearing. Do as y’all please but I’ll will be wearing ANR headsets flying (any) jet the whole duration from takeoff to landing.
