Air Wisconsin

I abandoned ship when they lost their United contract back about 20 years ago-ish. I thought for sure they were dead in the water, but like a roach, they just seem to stick around. I do believe this is the end for them, though. They DEFINITELY suffered from a lack of vision. You gotta believe that an airline flying the same CRJ200s they took delivery of two decades ago and has had absolutely no fleet growth is just inviting the demise. I can only assume they're just tired of being in business, because nothing else makes any sense about their business decisions since Clinton was in office.

I feel horrible for those guys that planted their career stakes in ZW. It really was a good gig, and Appleton is a great place to live (winter not withstanding), but really ZW has got to be the slowest death scene in the history of airlines.

Thus is the game we play though. The only constant is change, and ZW is a case study in "change or die".

I wouldn't be surprised if leadership (maybe I'm giving too much grace here..) decides to go in the direction of a "biz jet" format, maybe even hunt down contracts for small college sports teams. It's been established for a while now that 50 seaters have a very small market with sched service and those options seem to be a more adaptable path.

This so closely matches the messaging that it's Almost like you're sitting in meetings in the SOC...

Yeah... The sports charter field is pretty small and saturated. Not sure if they have the resources to pivot to a JSX style operation in a time frame sufficient to not implode first, but these are the only two logical directions this airline can go given their fleet, and they are a little late to the game. But then again, Air Wisconsin has managed to dodge disaster before.. Who knows, maybe they've got an ace up their sleeve. Since they are a private entity, they are not obliged to tell anyone anything, which seems to be the philosophy of the company, to include its employees... :/

May the odds be ever in their favor...

Binns just sent a company-wide email announcing major furloughs and blaming the Trump administration. 🙄
The airline won't survive, it turns out.
Well. Here's to finding my way to a new airline job! 🍻
lol. Yeah it’s Trump’s fault that company leadership refused to invest in a new plane that wasnt announced by every major airline as being phased out before the end of this decade

Air Wisconsin isnt really a private entity any more. Their parent company is Harbor Diversified, which is a publicly traded company (even if its an OTC stock not listed on any of the major exchanges).

An airline that never diversified it's fleet and Binns is blaming Trump...weak and meek words. Interviewed there a looong time ago and saw this coming from way back then too. Glad I flat out said no. Hope you find a good one Delta!
