Air Whiskey and 2015

Nothing.

The union has told the company that they are willing to help with whatever is necessary towards gaining new aircraft, aligning for a merger or to be sold, or just riding off into the sunset in 2015. The company has declined to give any information that would point in any of those directions. All they want is concessions now (on a concessionary contract) to look good on any RFP where we may or may not gain new flying. "take a pay cut now, and we *might* be able to get more flying"

Most pilots here would rather run AWAC into the ground in 2015 than take concessions (again).

I will help them shut the door. When we are netting 2.5 mil a week...you can go kick rocks before I take a paycut. They are going to wait until the last second to jump out of the way of the train. I'm not worried about it.

It's not the unions job to "look at the books" or help them make business decisions. The art of any negotiations is to try and get your workforce to take a payout. Heck it worked on the Flight Attendants. Why not try with the pilots, I would too. Doesn't mean anything about our future or what our contract will actually say. In my opinion the union should not be sending out emails written with zero tact at all. Your building a taller wall between us and management. The truth is its e owners money at the end of the day and if they can try and save some then why the heck not. Like Pilotdude said I'm not worried. But the union should consider not being so brash and doom and gloom all the time. Your not helping anything and it makes you look really bad and desperate. Just my 2 cents.

The company is making 130 million a year net?

Does anyone have any "news" on ZW? Anybody working there care to comment on the climate?
I just got a call from their recruiter....She stated she "didn't know anything about current events at the company" except that it's a great place to work and that the owners are really business savvy and they will be around for many many years... "hey wait, but you just said you didn't know anything"...Im confusalated... I had to check the number to make sure I hadn't redialed Seaborne by accident...

AWAC is a great place to work. There are rumors of Delta flying right now but i'll believe it when I see it.

Thanks guys....yeah I've "heard" the same thing on this forum (DL). I actually ran it by the recruiter to see if I could detect a balk...Nada!
Not exactly the best way to "recruit"....Dunno, dunno, not sure, dunno...maybe...why you askin?...Geez.

What are your times, and how long did it take to get a call after you submitted your stuff?

The recruiter was probably playing dumb because they honestly don't know, and don't want to sell you snake oil.

One airline I worked for had HR interviewing pilots on a Monday morning and by that afternoon, had laid off almost 100 new hires.

Have we worked at the same place?

A couple of my friends at Whiskey have said that the company plays it's cards close to their vest. No one really knows but they are hiring 100+ right now when apparently they are almost over-staffed. Could just be for attrition for the first half of 2015 or it could be for new flying to be announced soon. Only Jah knows...

Off the top of my head, there are a finite amount of ATP holders nowadays, they are probably trying to wrap up a bunch of them to tide them over for the time being. They may or may not be getting more flying, but it I were an airline that's what I would be trying to do at least!

Have they hired 100 yet or is 100 planned?

Planned... I applied a couple days ago but haven't heard anything yet. Same with Sky West. They are the last couple places I'd like to interview at before I make a final decision. I've accepted a January class date for PDT and will likely keep it. But if I can find somewhere with an easier commute and comparable pay/bennies then I would consider it.
