In this season of giving I've made a few contacts at this company over the past year and I thought I'd share some info with you guys from the inside. They're not hiring right now AFAIK but did hire a couple locals back in OCT/NOV time period and if I find out they are I'll post it in the JA forum.
They fly the Embraer 120 twin turboprop and the DeHavilland DHC-6 turboprop, based in PCS (Provodenciales). I'm not sure how may pilots they have total, wiki says that have 3 EMB-120s and 2 DHC-6s. They don't currently offer service to South Florida but are working on getting flights into FLL.
Starting pay for FOs is 3,000 USD/month tax free from T&C (but if your an American the same ex-pat rules apply as any other foreign country). FOs fly the same number of hours and but mostly better schedules than American regionals. Its not uncommon to get up to a week or so off at one time, but have to work up to a 10 day trip. There are some American FOs there that have crash pads here at FLL and MIA. Since the company does all ground handling for each airline that flies into Provo (except for AA), pilots have jumpseat priviledges on all these airlines including DL, Spirit, and Jet Blue.
Captains pay is $46,000/year. Theres no seniority AFAIK. F/Os make 36,000/year Captains make 46 regardless of time with the company. There are no unions in T and C but since the island is small there is a labor tribunal that reviews complaints on a case by case basis. In fact, the company was recently fined by the tribunal for illegally firing one of its employees. Still from what I've been told most of the pilots are happy with management most of the time and moral is pretty good.. The Americans that fly there can easily get a waiver that allows them to fly on they're FAA certs. The waiver is updated each time they take they're 6 month proficiency check.
I'll leave basic geographic questions about T&C to wikipedia but basically its the last set of islands to the east of the Bahamas and north of Hispanola. I've been there myself and the beaches are incredible. The company serves the many destinations including Jamaica, DR, Haiti, and the occasional Cuba charter. Despite being in the Caribbean the flying there is not as easy as you might think (especially this time of year). Like PR the wx moves in quick and sudden passing fronts can bring in some strong winds and low overcast layers under 1,000. Also radar coverage is limited, especially under 6000ft over the open Caribbean. Haiti can be quite a hassel with ATC and going missed at places like Cap Haitian and Santiango de los Caballeros happens on occasion.
Just thought I'd share what I've heard. If I hear of any hiring news or anything else I'll let you guys know!
