That's why frog_flyer said, "LOL KIDDING WE"RE THE DUMB ONES!!!"Kristie said:well, if you think about it.. we (U.S.) are the only ones that are not on the metric system..so whose the idiot? I'm thinking us....because it's too late to switch over and redo everything. We tried that with engineering already and because people "couldn't get it", it got scrapped after a few years...
yeeaaaaa...see...i missed that! my bad!! :nana2:airplanerik said:That's why frog_flyer said, "LOL KIDDING WE"RE THE DUMB ONES!!!"

tonyw said:The thing with the metric system is it makes sense logically. There is none of this 12 inches equal a foot, three feet equal a yard, 5,280 feet equal a mile, 128 ounces equals a gallon, and all the other nonsense that the English system requires. Who came up with those ideas, anyway?
Nope, you've got everything being nice and easy to remember, with things based on what we like to base things on. Ten.
And I wouldn't get too carried away with the aviation measurement system there, flyover. Don't forget, the temps are in Celsius.![]()

You can see why little countries like France and others felt the need to move to a universal system of measurements. It would be like all the states of the US having their own system. Besides, it helps them feel superior. You've got to throw them some bones occasionally.
As to base ten. That's OK, but I prefer the hours and minutes method. I tend to carry everything in the second column every time I hit 6, this from years of keeping paylogs and logbooks.
