Air traffic system controller payscales

I was thinking of moving from my current dispatch job to an atsc role within my airline and I wanted to compare how the pay / work rules differ from airline to airline

Would be great if anyone had any information on it. Thanks!

Pay will vary depending on contracted amount but is usually a flat rate bump. My carrier has a separate payscale with other override positions that are company selected and require an interview. Such as operations manager, full time instructor, etc.

Yes at my company it’s the same way. I’d have to interview and the pay scale is separate from the dispatch pay scale. Very similar work rules though. Would you happen to know the starting pay over at your airline for that position?

What about the job do you think sucks?

Well first off, you’re not dispatching flights, which for me is far more rewarding and interesting than the ATC deck or any other position in the SOC.

I can only speak for my airline, but our ATC desk is always under the watchful eye of leadership. There’s A LOT of politics involved. You don’t really have any operational control over anything but have people from all around requesting and demanding things.

Not for me. But may be for you! It’s cool to do once or twice a month, it that’s it.
