Air Sickness

Re: EPA.....

Depends on the local laws....there's nothing in the FAR's that says you can't pour a few ounces of fuel on the ramp. If you can't do it at your airport, it's probably a city or state level law. Compared to the fuel spills which happen daily at most FBO's, what we do during the preflight is nothing. Ever tried fueling up a cessna 150 with an avgas pump that puts out decent fuel pressure? I probably spilled fuel all over the wing and ramp about 25% of the time when I filled up a C-150/152.

Along with using air vents to keep cool, be sure you are wearing comfortable clothes. On my first two lessons, I wore my winter coat...on my first lesson I yakked on our way back (in a barf bag, luckily

), the second one was cut short because I wasn't feeling well. Also be sure to carry barf bags on board, that way you won't have to worry about replacing your flight bag or scrubbing puke out of the airplane.

Screw the EPA....you know what I do with the oil out of my car...I dump it on my weeds...makes them turn brown and fall over. That's what old oil should be used for. Gas...you toss it out on the ramp and see if any water bubbles stay after the gas evaporates. That's the only way to tell if there's water in your gas.

The EPA is going to have to ban all C-152s because every time they get topped off, they leak fuel through their fuel vents excessively. (Ban C-150s? I might back the EPA on that one!

)

Anyway about the air sickness, get the relief band! For whatever reason, it really does work!

Re: EPA.....

In Florida (and all states as far as I know) you are supposed to use one of THESE:

It's called a GATS Jar

Re: EPA.....

One of the best things you can do for airsickness at this point is not dwell on it or think about it. Just bring a sicksac and put it in your bag and dont worry about it from now on. As you get more time youll start feeling better.

But flying low and slow doing manuevers on a hot summer day getting tossed about, can get anyone from time to time.

Re: EPA.....

I've never seen nor used one. Whoops. Guess I'll have to buy one so that I am environmentally conscious.

How much are they?

Re: EPA.....

I posted this in another post were air sickness has come up.

Try drinking some gingerale on the way to the airport or keep some ginger candy in your flight bag if you think you might get airsick.

Stay cold. Keep the temp in the airplane as cold as you can stand it (and as cold as the airplane can be kept, sometimes the air doesn't work so well....).

Try the wrist bands too, they really do work.

Yupp.. that is right...
The first time I flew right seat in mooney (note: NOT the first time I flew) I got sick on the turns, and began to sweat. So what I did is take the nozzle of cold air from the ceiling and pointed it straight at me... it helped a lot, but I still felt like hurling once we got down on the floor.

It happens.

I have ordered one of the new electronic relief bands and I will let you know how well it works for me....Thanks for your help.

The Baron has 8 fuel drains, and they put the little fuel collection thing about a quarter of a mile away. Do you really think im going to walk back and forth 8 times to dump a little maybe 2 oz sample in the jar?
