Apple Juice Tantrum Causes Plane To Make Emergency Landing

A child's tantrum onboard a Delta commuter flight forced a pilot to make an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport.

A 4-year-old wanted apple juice and when the stewardess didn't get it quick enough, the child threw a tantrum, NBC 10 reported.

There are a couple of things here for the easily offended. "commuter" "stewardess" How passe.

I guess the "Interfering with a flight crew is federal felony" speech didn't work on the 4-year old.

I wonder if the Captain got on the PA and said "If you don't settle down back there I'm going to turn this plane around right now"

In fact I've seen alot of people say 'stewardess' that look like they should know better...but I think they still do it for kicks.
 
The kid was probably spoiled, already at the age of 4.

Where the hell were the parents?

Why couldn't the parents do their damn job and control the child? Put the kid in check, and tell him to chill the hell out.

But - nope, of course not. Your child can do no wrong.
 
The other day I had a 14 year old tell me to go F myself at the gate while I was working a flight. I looked at the dad to see if he would belt the kid for using that kind of language. When he didnt say anything to him I told the kid to "watch it." Dad looked at me and defended that type of language with the excuse that the kid is "upset." Well then they were both upset when I refunded their tkts. I absolutly refuse to put anyone regardless of tkt price, FF status, or anything on an airplane who is going to use language like that in my presence, my coworkers presence, or other pax presence. It's an absolute disgrace how some parents are with their kids. Some real class acts out there.

Regardless of age my personal rule is if an F-bomb is directed at me personally then that person is done. Cool thing is local mgmt here stands behind us and our decisions regarding denying boarding to people who act like that. Getting angry is one thing, I've been on that side of the counter before, and it does suck, but becoming verbally abusive is another. Im not gonna strand good passengers on an airplane with people like that. If they are gonna be like that on the ground, then they are gonna be like that at 35K, and it's not gonna happen. At least not on DL. Take that crap to WN. Maybe they can be on their TV show.

BTW the dispute was sitting in an exit row. Dad's foot was in a brace and kid was underage.
 
I'm a commuter pilot and proud of it...never really understood those that get bent out of shape by the term.

You did the right thing. Some kid dropped an F-bomb and the parents did nothing?...Please.....I would have done the same thing. "None of you get on now!" There is just no respect these days somtimes.
