Often times this is the only way to actually accomplish what you want to accomplish.

"Look Mr. POI, here is everything, I also referenced the requirements you're supposed to look for in FSIMS, it's right here, can we approve this?"

That or buying the electricians a case of beer to fix something at the airport you're going to - that's also an option.

I’m waiting for breakfast to start at the BWI Marriott after my red eye. So I have time for this one:

When I started at SKW I was exactly the same worried about small details and also being punished for things out of my control as well.

I think I caught on pretty quickly to three stripes stand for that’s not my problem quickly enough. When I was still based at ORD I was assigned a turn to Montana. I think it was BZN. There’s a big bankster conference out there and it was going on when I was assigned the trip. We pushed back and were given a major route change. The captain called dispatch and they told us to go back to the gate for more gas.

When we got to the gate an uppity bankster wannabe in first class came up to the cockpit and decided it would be a good idea to give us a hard time about making her miss her meeting. I looked at the captain and said “I’ll handle this.” Which generated a look of confusion and amusement on the captains part.

I got up looked the passenger right in the eye and without saying a word calmly closed the cockpit door.

That felt so good after 14 years of 91/135.

And how many major airlines have you worked for to make that comment? “My buddy at Delta…”

You took the first upgrade and are literally in the bottom 5-10 guys in base. And you’ll be there for a long time because many above you skipped upgrade and will now take it.

I still think if you didn’t want to work as much, there’s tricks you can do to manipulate your schedule. I’ve gone over some of those before.


After 18 yrs in 121, I’ve learned the buddy stories are typically overinflated/bloated and don’t represent the bulk of others at that said carrier.

Still don’t. Tarantino joke maybe. I assume the could be worse implies a joke for something hand related. Unsure if the animal picture is related as well. I still don’t get it.
