Air India plane crash

I just get the whole crew. Less change to worry about.

That's a good move. Most dudes tip $1. I flew trip with PHX dude on PHX layover so he didn't ride with me, and it was just me in van. Sammy, from Lebanon, promised me that we will have peace in the eastern Med this year. But really nice guy. I gave him a random bill from my wallet that was very much not a $1. I think we all (CA or FO), can afford to show our unappreciated support cast some love.

Hell yeah. The FAs really appreciate it. Whenever it's just me and another pilot or myself. It's a minimum 5. 7-10 with a full crew.

The only awkward part is letting the FAs know so they don't double pay because only the really cool drivers will decline additional funds.

Getting change is still a pain in the ass.

Yeah the FAs just got shat on for a 5 hr flight, and want to chill. I'm totally fine with them not slinging 1's after I just kicked my feet up and drank the coffee the brought me for the same 5 hrs.

I do kinda hate the task of getting cash in this day and age. I just get cash back from the grocery store if I'm nearing a trip, and then ask them for 20-40 1's. It's this weird anal retentive task, like picking up my pilot suit at the dry cleaners. Those are my required tasks before any trip. I have broken bigger bills or spotted cash for quite a lot of CAs. I kinda have the luxury of almost never flying a full line, so I can nerd out and plan like that. Many are just trying to survive from release to report. So I don't judge by any means. I'll be there too at some point.

I manage and I'd throw down in the Octagon for the worst major airline pilot schedule.

I just get $20 in chance from front desks or the coffee shop in the main food court at SEATAC.

Although my tradition of covering the crews tips began when I didn't have change lol.

This world would be better if while we battled to claim the worst deal, we also battled to take care of the most vulnerable the best (our FA's fit that bill for the discussion).

I just meant that I have a terrible schedule but can still find change.

And I agree with you on the FAs 💯

Maybe I'm just getting grumpy as I set my final glide into my golden years, but I just set up for high speed, low drag, minimum drama.

Flew with a guy. Nice guy, good stick, knew his stuff, but he could not just leave things well enough alone. I was like "DOOOOD, you have to let things happen when they happen. Parking brake is set, eventually SOMEOME will notice we're still here."

I tend to agree with this outlook. I've spent many years in a different career busting my butt to make things go right when various levels of incompetence try to train wreck everything. I'm kinda over the notion of doing someone else's job for them, or even expending energy trying to force them to do it themselves.

A lot going on in this article from, the captain having a history of mental health issues to this particular airplane have a slew of mx issues, but its the first one I have read with input from other Air India pilots.

The malfunction is a critical issue as it can trigger incorrect responses in flight control, including unintended fuel cut-off signal,” the official was quoted as saying.

Wait, a failed stab transducer can *cut off fuel to the engines*? This must be for domestic consumption...

One of the happier moments in my career was in DAL, where we lease a gate from SWA. Watching them delaminate over my stately pace was hugely amusing.

We weren't dropping bombs on anyone but even in piddly-ass charter the tendency view everything as My Problem was overpowering. It took a couple of years to settle down and get Zen with the Airline World. The plane will fly, or the plane will not fly, Ahhhhmmmmmmmm.

I've been trying to make up for my previous lack of chill by basically occupying space and staring out the window, ever since.
