Air India plane crash

iPad privacy was one of the specific things "gained" in an MOU. I wonder why...

As nice as he was and with as good intentions he tried, the NTSB cited his course as a contributing factor for AA587.

These batpoop insane people were putting pilots in a sim (including widebodies like an A300), telling them they were behind a heavy widebody for wake, then rolling the sim 90 DEGREES and freezing any pilot action/input for the first couple seconds. What that needed up doing is severely overstating the effects of wake on a widebody AND made the pilots feel that their initial inputs were useless with how bad and powerful wake is. Negative training.

I love seeing guys put MEL / INOP stickers on the camera lens of their company iPad. As if this shop would record you, pay for off site video data storage, and hire someone who monitors video all day long, saves and catalogs it for future use against a pilot…

I have a great story to be told offline about this. Short story: Don't do it. It may end up as part of a court transcript even if you are not one of the two parties involved in the case.

Yeah I think its pretty wild if any people actually do this (personal account on company iPad). Serves no purpose I can figure out. I have another personal iPad that travels with me in my pilot bag.

Thank you for mansplaining Warren Vanderburgh to a 9-year American Airlines pilot.

It is always the same couple of reasons with the most popular I hear is that the data plan paid for by the employer which makes streaming Netflix free no matter where you are.

Was talking about this on the last trip. It's like everyone has to have a theory (I'm no exception). Except nothing really quite fits. Take the C/A seat theory. AFAIK, the RAT doesn't deploy (if indeed it did deploy) just cause the thrust levers went to idle. Every other obvious explanation has at least one equally obvious hole in it, AFAICT.

What *is* maybe interesting is how the theories championed by the Certain seem to reflect their predispositions. Like, some people are pretty sure these goofy Indian pilots screwed up, somehow. Others are equally sure that Boeing builds crap airplanes and this will somehow come back to Neutron Jack, etc.

Witness the fact that now people are making up AAIB reports. Another harbinger of the Post-Truth World.

Simply don’t understand why people fail to see this distinction.

“Won’t” does not equal “can’t”

In some Indian news articles, they’re hailing the CA as a hero for controlling the crash and missing the hostel sleeping buildings, and instead going for the green grass area.

I honestly don’t think there was any lateral control attempts. It went down where it went down, not some heroic effort to avoid something.
They did veer left away from most of the urban area, I'm not sure they had lateral control vs just drifting while trying to stay airborne. Plus they were at a nose high attitude.
