Air India plane crash

Just got to the hotel in Japan and there were a few people asking me about it. I had no idea until they asked.

I hope this isn’t the typical third world reporting, but Air India is saying survivors being taken to local hospitals…

I saw a report it crashed into a dining facility at a medical college, which would be located ~8100 feet beyond the departure threshold on the extended centerline for VAAH / AMD Rwy 23. The apparent time-of-departure was 1355 IST (0825Z).

VAAH 120830Z 24003KT 6000 NSC 37/17 Q1000 NOSIG

Runway 23 is 11,500 ft and 189 ft MSL. Surprisingly for an airport this size, the accompanying parallel taxiway does not run all the way to the end; there are multiple turning pads along the length instead.

It looks like the aircraft, VT-ANB (36279 / 26) arrived in AMD 2.5 hours prior from VIDP / DEL ~2.5 hours prior. The planned duration of flight to LHR was 8h 50m.
