Air France Concorde 001

I was going through all my photos today and I came across what has to be the most amazing trip I have ever been blessed to take. Before the Concorde retired, my mom's friend worked in BOS for Air France and she managed to snag me reduced fare Concorde tix one way from JFK-CDG on AF 001. The highlight of this flight was not only experiencing the raw power of this beautiful bird, but being invited up to the cockpit at cruise to meet one of AF's senior Concorde Captains!...I won't say how much I paid (or didn't pay) as it might make some of you mad ;-)...but I'll give you a clue that it was a three digit number below 300..anyways these pics don't need much explaining I am sure. Enjoy!...NOTE: Disregard the few pictures of me I was in 10th grade!!!

Great pic's ! Before I became a pilot I was a flight attendant and had a layover in Mex. There was an Air France Concorde parked right next to us, so our crew walked over to see if the Air France crew would give us a tour of the Concorde, they invited us all on board and were extremely cordial. As we were leaving they gave us each a gift which I still have today. It's a stainless steel can and bottle opener shaped just like the concorde. It is inscibed with the " Air France " logo. It was great to at least see what the inside looked like.

Great pics! I had a cockpit poster of the Concord on my bedroom wall when I was a lil' kid. Never got to see one up close though.

Does anyone know what's happened to the remaining planes? Are they just parked somewhere? On display somewhere? Turned into beer cans?

There is one parked at BFI in Seattle that you can tour.

I took these about a month ago in Seattle at the Museum of Flight.

By far the most beautiful bird to have graced the skies (certainly gives the 747 a run for her money!) Some cool observations about flying on her: the windows are about the size of a standard passport, fuel is pumped throughout the cabin via ductwork around the passenger cabin to keep the airplane trimmed for cruise (there was a tinge of oil and jet fuel throughout the flight, and you can hear the pumps working in certain parts of the aircraft), about 2 hrs into the flight the windows get too warm to touch, on initial descent the plane must slow from around Mach 2.01 to Mach .90ish and she drops like a rock....closest I'll get to reentry on the shuttle! Glad you guys enjoyed the pics :-)
