Possibly looking into moving out of California and doing my instructing in New Hampshire where I am from...found this place http://www.airdirectairways.com/

They are not too large but they have a complex as well as a twin and a tailwheel which is nice.

I will be at around 300TT with 140 ME and 50 Tailwheel so another thing that may help boost the hours is they also do banner tow if they I could dual hat and instruct and tow...

just throwing it out there..anyone heard of it good bad or otherwise...also please help me out with other options to work at within a 100 mile radius of the NH seacoast if you know of any...I am looking at the April 1st timeframe

East Coast Aero Club flies out of Nashua. I currently fly with them and it's a great little outfit. I believe they keep a few warriors and possibly a seminole up at Nashua. There may be opportunities to fly as a traffic pilot out of ASH and I know for sure there are at BED which is only a 15 minute hop in the plane. www.ecacnashua.com Send me a PM if you end up out here and want to meet up or something along the likes of that.
 
Had a buddy that instructed at East Coast and did a TON of flying with them, and he was part-time. Mostly multi-private but a couple of ATP guys as well. A lot of their business come from students from Daniel Webster College that want cheaper flight training. As was said before, they have a "satellite" station at ASH and their main school in BED, 10 min flight, 30 min drive South. Definitely worth a look.

As for AirDirect, again, I haven't personally flown there, but a couple of guys/gals I know got their CFI through there in a Cardinal RG. I believe they have 1 or 2 172s and a Duchess for the Multi shizzle.

The Boston area is a great area to do training, lots of different kinds of airspace within the range of most trainers, and the weather (so far this year) has been relatively warm, so good for instrument students. Check out BEDford, too. There's a bunch of little flight schools down there that I'm sure are hiring. Good luck in the move!
 
This is great stuff guys..I was looking at ECAC as well...It isnt that I am tired of sunny socal it is just that my wife and I are from NH and we have lived in California for 4 years now with the military and we had planned to return to NH after 6 or so months of instructing in california....I did some math and figured that if I can instruct/fly in any capacity in NH for roughly 50 hours per month April-October we would make the move back home and just do our time here in our home state with out family....I am actually here in NH now on vacation seeing my family so I will not be able to monitor this thread as often as I would like but I will be all over it looking for info when I get back to cali next week.

I wasn't impressed with them, but I never rented there. It was a real small mom and pop operation.

I would suggest looking at BED, Executive Flyers I think is the name, if you can stomach the commute. I rented out of there a few times and was very impressed with the facilities. Lots of newer rental aircraft too. Plus all the business people, I'm sure you'd fly more than in ASH. Night and day difference from Air Direct.
 
I used to Live in Lexington and flew out of KBED. I mostly used the aero club on base as I was in the Air Force. You might be able to land a job instructing there on the base. It's a pretty big aeroclub with a sattelite in upstate NY near the Rome Labs.

I'm currently in TX finishing up the commercial stuff and then the CFI. I want to move back to New England so bad. So I feel your pain. The cost of living is so high the closer you get to Bean Town. I think I might just try to get out to NH or VT instead. Keep in touch and let me know what you find. I'm fresh out of the military and will be in the same boat as you as soon as I get the ratings finished.

I do not have G1000 experience as of yet but I do have over 100 multi which will be over 150 and around 50 hours of tailwheel (they have a citabria there) Just curious as to if they have a staff that sticks around or like most schools they are usually looking for a little help...looks like somewhere I would be interested in...

thanks again guys...as for the commute it will not be an issue because my wife and I will get an apartment wherever I get hired beit (is that a word?) bedford or boire and since she is an RN she can work anywhere we end up. After instructing and getting my hours we will then worry about picking up a house somewhere between a triangle of MHT BOS and Portland (I dont know the identifier) so it will be a 30-45 minute commute to any of those choices.

This will not be until april 1st but I really want to get my feelers out there early because that is a long move away from a guaranteed job where I fly in SoCal to NH where I may not get a job.

I am looking to average around 50 hours per month between the months of April and October...can any of you tell me if this is possible in these schools in BED or ASH based on weather and just how much flying these planes are doing in general? I would think so but since I do not fly here I wouldnt know...if I can only average 20 hours a month or so then it may not be worth the move just to be closer to home although my father and I own an experimental tailwheel bush plane so I could always fly that to make up the difference I would just have to drive to hampton to jump in the plane...

I believe air direct has the most planes on the field (except for DWC). They also have a charter outfit and they tow banners... not sure of the instructors pull double duty though. I work with someone who learned to fly there, said it's a good outfit... I prefer low-wings, so unfortunately I can't shed any more light on them.

I fly out of ECAC nashua and they seemed very busy last year. They have since hired more instructors, so I don't know how many hours you would get per month. I know looking at the online schedule, that ECAC BED has more students, but they also have more instructors. ASH has a couple warriors, an arrow, and a seminole. BED has more of the same as well as a couple 172s and some Diamond products. Only downside to BED is the Baaaaston area real estate market... rented in Burlington about 6 yrs ago, $1400/mth = 1 bed 700 sq ft apartment, ugh! Good luck wherever you end up.
