Air Cargo Carriers

Anybody here fly for Air Cargo Carriers? Their website says the mins
are 500TT/50ME.

Just wondering what the schedule/pay is like.

Good company. You have to have someone to walk your resume to get in. I've been trying to get into that place for a little less than a year now. But I don't have anyone to walk the res' for me. And I have pretty decent times right now (1193 and 50 or so).

Edit: Oh...And I had a friend get hired with 450ish and 25.

Any clue where people advance to after a job with ACC? Could they go to the majors or would they need 121 experience first? I know they fly the Shorts 360 which are turboprops and from what i hear the majors love PIC turbine time. Does that mean PIC turbotime 121 or is 135 sufficient enough? Not to rag on 135 pilots at all, they are prob some of the best pilots out there flying old equipment into all sorts of weather. Anyone have some answers? thanks!

7 more hours and you're ripe to become a freight dawg!!:nana2:

The resumes all starting to flow. I've been slacking on the night time requirement though. It gets dark to darn late out here. I have another 15 or so hours of that to build.

I hear that they have a pretty high turnover rate of people going into the regionals. I've also heard that there have been a small small (I'm talking microscopic) amount of people who left ACC and went to FedEx/UPS. But I believe that it's a shot in the dark to make that type of jump. It would be hard for me to leave a place like that which has quick upgrades to go to the regionals. But I guess 135 flying isn't for everyone. I hear that you could either work (scheduled)5 on and 2 off or (charter) 19 on and 9 off (soon to be 14 on and 7 off).

I sent em a resume like a year ago and never heard anything...at the time I had 1500/100. They charter out of DTO which was right by my house.

Yep! Same reason I like'em. You gotta have someone walk your resume'!

I was called a few weeks after sending my stuff in (may 2005). I had at the time around ~1500TT/150 multi. No one walked my packet in. I mailed my stuff and filled out the online app on air-apps or whatever that web site is. I even had an ERAU degree while the director of safety (who was one of the people who interviewed me) had a UND degree.

I was hired mid-june and called in mid August for a class date to start in September.

Interview was extremely easy and straight forward, and that was before any gouge was on aviationinterviews.com. A lot of people complain about the sim - it's touchy but they know that. It's pretty straight forward as long as you are familar with NACA charts and flying full approaches. I PM'd a few people via this forum and over on flightinfo who all said the same thing - a good company. I was impressed with the interview itself and all the people there. Ironic that my companies hanger is NEXT DOOR to their hanger now. They sometimes do PFT stuff so that why you see some guys get hired ~250-500TT. Not saying they are paying, but they did charge people up to $10k for an SIC position. Not sure if this is still going on or not though. I think if you have >1000TT you didn't have to pay.

According to someone on here only one guy left for FedEx, and he was well connected. At FedEx it's all about recommendations.

.........no more PFT and no more StaffVC or whatever that online application database is called. And you really need your resume walked to get in there these days. And there posted minimums are now 500 and 50.

That's cool, I was just dispelling the myth that you NEED to get it walked in to get called (of course now may be different then a year ago). They weren't hiring much back then either (in fact they told me they got upwards of 100 resumes a week) and I still got a call. :) I think they hired a group of 5 or so for class. It's a small company so small classes. Just like anything you have to catch it at the right time.

Did you call and confirm they got your resume? I did that and talked to marilyn I believe. Not sure if that did anything or not. Also, for the application (although you get it after the invite, or at least I did), I typed it out. In fact, I scanned in each page into photoshop and then used photoshop to put text layers on it. Talk about overkill! But it was my first "professional" application outside of instructing so I went way overkill.

Thier last class all had internal recs and were hired into a pool. They also have a one year contract for FOs and another one year after upgrade.

I don't work there, but the best thing to do is get on the phone and let them know you are very interested. Follow up after you submit your resume.

Currently it is pretty hard to get in to Air Cargo Carriers without having your resume recomended by one of the current pilots. When you do submit a resume make sure you do the online resume application before you call otherwise you will look like a dumbass. They have a scheduled side and charter side. Scheduled pilots usually fly five nights a week and the charter pilots are switching to 14 days on and 7 days off. They no longer have a charter headquarters in Denton, they relocated it to their main one in Milwaukee. If you do interview with them it could be months before you will get a class date.

Seems like right now with out having one of their pilot walk in your resume you have no chance. I called them the other day and they said if you get recomanded by their pilot you can be hired with only Commerical Multi meaning 250TT and 5-7 Multi. Sad.

I know of two guys that got hired there with 500-600 hours (sure about one, not the other) about two years ago. Both left for regionals, Pinnacle and Colgan. At least one of them was pretty eager to get out of there, but I don't want to say anything specific as I don't want to give any incorrect information.
