Air Ambulance

After flying some freight and some mapping lines I've finially made it into an aero-medical op! Ever since I flew my first Wings of Mercy flight I've wanted to do air ambulance work. Now roughly 5 years later I made it.

Now I just need to get my wife stationed at either Buckley, Peterson, or Ft. Carson so I can stay here a good long time. :)

What does your wife do? Military? Civil Service?

She's military but has three more years of med school before we get a taste of the AF shuffle.

lol. I thought they closed that base. My tanker unit use to operate there a lot. At least I will get some fishing in.;)

you got my dream job!!! any suggestions on how to get there?

HAHAHAHAHA congratulations!!!!!!! ;)

Lol that is actually what I hear quite a bit! Haha, congratulations for taking one big step!!!

Congrats man! I'm working on an internal recommendation for an aero med group out of Hawaii. :-) . Humanitarian flying to me serves a greater purpose than an airliner. Airlines are great for experience, but people pay for a ticket and EXPECT a lot. Humanitarian flights can save peoples lives, and that in itself is satisfying to me...

I don't think I'd call these humanitarian. They cost crap tons of money.

Well, right. I agree, but that isn't exactly what I was going after. I see your standpoint though. If it were free, I guess that is what you are possibly referring to? I was just taking the literal definition and applying it.

Ah, well usually when people talk humanitarian flights, they're flying medical supplies while getting shot at by gorillas in the DRC or something for little to no money.

It's been fun. I've already had a couple calls and passed my check ride earlier in the week. Not going to be much fun when the first patient dies on board. Especially not going to be fun when we have a kid in the back. Going to be some tough stuff later down the road.

The patient never dies on the airplane.....
