Is XJT pretty tough on commuters? I'm hoping to make it work at least for a little while.

It's not that they are tough on commuters. It's just that when something goes awry in a long commute, they just say "oh well, should have planned better". So you'll find you won't be home much, particularly in 11-day off months on reserve. Maybe 5 days a month.

Yeah, it sure is going to be tough. I'll move if it doesn't work out. I've talked to a friend and he gets 15-17 days off a month. I think I can manage a commute as a line holder. What kind of time off are you getting with a line?

Right now 70% of the actual lines have 12 days off. This month, I have 15 due to some good trip trading and the fact they had to "build" my relief line. Next month I have like 18 off due to vacation. After that, I'm planning on seeing only 12 off a month.
12 days off a month doesn't give much time at home, and I only commute from Chicago.

Wow, well I hope to make it all work out. I'd like to make it as easy as possible on my family to. If that means a move then I will definately do it.
