Age Limit

I understand that you cannot be older than 31 to be hired as a controller, but at what point are you "hired"? What do you have to have completed by the time you turn 31? Thanks

Um....I'm not sure what all those acronyms mean, but I filled out a profile on ASAP, and while I am not qualified for it, I submitted an app for the current opening posted on there now. I am waiting for the "ATC Trainee" or whatever its called to open up and submit an app for that.

I'm assuming you aren't an ex-military controller or a cti grad, so you'll have to wait until the next OTS (off the street) hiring (that's what everyone means but PUBNAT). The last one ended in December I think. There is speculation that one will be posted soon, usually every few months.

GOOD LUCK!

Can you elaborate on exception? I just started a post. But basically I turned 31 last October but the FAA is sending me all the emails ect. as if I were still 30. I got accpeted to my local facility which is awesome but I'm thinking it's just a matter of time before they go. Oh! You turned 31 four monts ago so sorry buddy.

Charliefoxtrot. I live in Carmel Mountain and got into SCT. Well that's if I'm cool on the age thing.

Ha! I'm in San Marcos.:hiya: Say hi to Paul Langston when you get to SCT. He was my instructor for an Aviation Weather class I took at Palomar. Really nice guy. Good luck on the age limit. I turned 28 in November and really hope my number gets called up before I limit out. Maybe there is hope after that too...

Local San Diegan. Nice! If you just turned 28 then I would think you will be fine. I'll report back through the process with my findings. Hopefully I can say hi to Paul for you.
