How did you get started so young? Did you skip college? At 23 I thought I was "ready". Was I? Sure, I would have passed upgrade and learned along the way. I most likely would even meet the mins for the likes of FDX, but that's hypothetical. Hindsight is I was "senior" flying with the "senior CA's" for a solid 2 years. I learned what "to do" an what not "to do". Was it worth it? Financially- maybe!? QOL- Heck NO! When I went after a couple thousand hours with the "senior guys" I have been accused of being "laid back" but (so far) it's been a "been there, done that" situation. It saved my marriage and propelled my experience. I know you want to be a 23 year old CA, but I will say (as a 25 year old) I have only flown with 1 guy younger to me- an he's a RSV FO. DON'T RUSH SUCCESS!!!

Started flying in High School and instructed while I went through College for the 4 year degree. By taking summer classes I was able to shave a year off and get hired at 21.
problem is when you employ thousands of people you cannot deal with maturity on a case by case basis.
I'm 23 and if you gave me the position, I would jump on it like white on rice, but I'd be lying to you if I said I was mature enough to be responsible for that machine and those people. There are the rare few who are actually mature enough to be captain of an airliner before 23 years old (CK would be an example) but the other 99.5% of us needed some more growing up.
Does anyone think they will at least lower the age for the ATP license? I mean if you have the 1500 you should be able to get an ATP license. Sorry but I think the 23 year old rule does not have any applicability to anything.
