( Airplane Flying Handbook vs Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge)

Title says it all. Before ordering a hard copy, I was wondering what is the difference.

You'll want both.

PHAK covers general knowledge like aerodynamics theory, aircraft systems, weather, airspace, navigation, etc
AFH is focused on aircraft operations like flight maneuvers, performance maneuvers, approaches, landings, etc

You can also view both for free in PDF format from the FAA's web site, but I'd still recommend getting paper copies, they are good books.
