Still not clear whether he did a go around and another approach, or a circle-to-land. Either way, it must really be a slow news day......

EAST GRANBY, Connecticut (Reuters) – Air Force One had to pull out of its first landing attempt at a Connecticut airport with President Barack Obama on board on Wednesday, but landed easily on its second try with no danger to Obama or other passengers.

The presidential aircraft pulled out of its landing approach at 9:50 a.m. EDT due to bad weather, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The pilot executed a climb and circled the airport, before making a second approach and landing safely 15 minutes later.

"The pilot was in the process of landing but due to weather, the pilot decided to circle around and then landed the plane, this is a standard and safe procedure," White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said. (cont)

Why is this even news? Maybe CNN should write an article for me whenever I execute a missed approach or do a go-around.

At least in the comment section most people (both pilots and non pilots) are recognizing this as a non story.

How much does a go around cost in 747? Like a thousand million dollars? Maybe that's why it is a big deal...us being tax payers and all.

I have images of the cockpit conversation going something like this.

Pres "He can I do this one, guys?"
Pilot "Sure have a seat"
Pres "Wow. This is neat!"
Pilot "Easy, easy, touch of power, centerline, centerline, CENTERLINE, my plane!"

Damn Obama is in CT? Airport is like 15miles from me, had no idea haha

oh and I just watched the video. Holy crap did you guys see that!? That was CRAZY! AF1 was even flying through the clouds! That CANNOT be safe! Man thank God everybody made it out alive and uninjured

He didnt want Michele being the only one to get all the attention for a go around... figured it was his turn.

They should do a story everytime Air Force 1 takes off. I mean, the takeoff is a pretty dangerous phase of flight, isnt it? :sarcasm:
