Is anyone around here one?

I had my physical and interview a few weeks ago. Just waiting on the physical to go through the channels.

Just wondered if anyone had some insider thoughts on the position.

I'll be going C-5s if all works out.

Just curious, are you prior service or currently in the military? If you haven't been in any of the services previously you can kiss an FE job goodbye. If you have, then I have nothing for ya other than good luck.

Any reason you don't want to hit up the Youngstown C-130 unit? No openings or did you specifically want C-5's?

I think Dayton was just closer... it's about a 2 hour drive from my house. Youngstown would be 3-4 hours.

Cool! (SS) or (SW)?

Isn't there some pretty good bonus $ for doing nuke school in the Navy?

SW - Carriers

I'm not sure what it's up to now, but just before I got out it was $15,000 sign on (you actually get it half after Power School and half after Prototype training), and up to $100K for re-enlistments...

I actually missed all the really good bonus days, I got $6k to enlist and $22K and $55K for my 2 re-enlistments. But the bonus is definatley good for Nuke.

Wow. Not bad at all! Then again, you do earn every penny of it too, what with how nuke school being no cakewalk?

He's from the schoolhouse. Those guys can't fly! :D ;)

:rotfl:
HEY!!! It may have taken 2 months to find this...but I did!!!

It's not that we can't fly, it's that maintenance won't give us a jet worth a crap!

Maybe if you guys didn't tear up the jets while out cruising the world, maintenance would have a easier time providing us jets! Besides, when I want to fly now, I just go to Dover...works out much better. :)

Oh yea, sitting at FL350 for 8 hours tears up those jets way more than those butter bars over there at the FTU, :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I say bring in contract maintenance--problem solved. We fail at rewarding results. I pounded the ramp until the field was supposed to close, bought an extra hour, and then as soon as it was clear we had to go to bed because the field was in-fact closing, they quit working the problem as soon as we called for the crew bus. (And then alerted us to the same jet the next morning) Totally Worthless! Anyway, I didn't know we were interflying w/ Dover.

Is interfly a good thing? More opportunity to make money or more opportunity to get fisted by TACC?

Both, I guess....

Iterfly requires a letter of agreement between both OGs concerned. I briefly interflew w/ Westover when I was going through AMP training when we only had a couple of our own birds on the line

By the way, as far as getting 'fisted by TACC' (and they will at every opportunity), all of our channel missions are 10 day SRTs now. But, at least that's 10-days of guaranteed MPA orders even if you get back early, which wasn't the case before (you'd get back in 5 days and they'd amend your orders to cut them short). Good deal for bums, bad deal for airline guys. By the time you get back, though, chances are someone will take advantage of it and they'll come out with something that sucks more.

I agree with the contract maintenance...I think it would work OK. One of the first thing I noticed here was when we had an oh-dark-30 show time, we often showed up to the jet before maintenance did. I have heard the "growing pains" argument for a long time...the FTU is going on it's 4th year...it's just ridiculous.

Yeah...it's not just the 2LT tearing up airplanes, how about the O-5 that tore up the one REAL GOOD? No other comments...

Sorry...the interfly is between the AD Det 6 guys and Dover...mostly for M-model courseware and WST/CPT development. Can't write the courseware if we don't know what it's like to fly the jet! :rawk:
