A little off topic, but I was wondering if it's possible to be an AD pilot and have a dog or cat? FYI, I'm a single guy so no wife or girlfriend to watch any pets while I'm gone.

You could, but in your situation it would seem scheduling longer-term care for an animal during deployments, etc, would be a challenge.

I have a dog and it works fine, but i also have a wife to let him out during her lunch break.....

don't know how it would be without her though.

Thanks for the replies. I would love to have a pet, but I figure it would be a challenge and I'm not sure I would really have the time to take care of it along with everything else that would be going on.

I have a friend with two dogs who deploys frequently, he says all anyone wanting to make some serious money needs to do is open a dog kennel near a military base with a high PERSTEMPO.

Good idea. Before I get married I think I am going to get a puppy to get used to taking care of something. But this will not be for a long time.

Thread hijack- For those still in college or when you were in college do you remember dudes getting pets in college houses? It is pretty hilarious, the longest I have seen it last was about 6 months. College and pets do not mix

-one of the funniest things I heard in a while-

Hard to do if you're single. Even just local flying can take you to a 16 hour day...not including your commute. Not to say it can't be done, it's just tough to manage.

Curious, What are you flying? I flew C-21's for 8 years.

My Bride gave me a Labrador puppy just after I finished Grad School. I would come back to visit her at Clemson on weekends until she finished her undergrad degree. I literally had dozens of girls following me around campus to play with my puppy. Lab puppies = chick magnet! You might not need to have a sitter once you get a puppy.

Find someone local who breeds the type of dog you're seeking (I highly recommend Labs - Black, Chocolate, or British) and purchase one from him; he'll possibly be willing to take care of your puppy when you have to be gone.

On a side note - we currently have friends with an Autistic Son. His first question when I call their house is "Hey Mr. Mostellar, when's Dutch coming over." It's nice to take second fiddle to your dog.

So that's what I'm doing wrong :D.

NM!? LOL

What about rural TX? Or is rural TX just as bad-ass as urban TX? ;)

Will you make my other baby?

New Mexico sucks everywhere except ski towns. I didn't put rural Texas on that list because if you're in rural Texas, you're still a Texan.

Are you inviting me to make sexy time with your wife?
