Basically, if you go AS (Aero Sci), you have to fly on campus. Aeronautics, and you can fly wherever, and still get credit for it. Either way gets you from point A to point B. Both are going to be about the same cost (with the difference being total flight time).

Academically, there are some differences. In Aero Sci, you basically get told what you are going to take, from day 1. In Aeronautics, you are told you have to have a certain number of credits in certain area's, but you get to pick the specific classes. With Aeronautics, you have to declare at least 1 minor, with the option to do as many as 3. If you make use of your time, its easy to get 3 minors and fill all the other boxes up with what you need. I actually wish I could go more than 3 minors, but that's where its capped at.

I should say, I am a Aeronautics student, just to clear that up. I know there are some people on here who are current AeroSci students, so I'm sure they'll chime in.

Some of the bigger internships want you to be an Aeronautical Science student. That's pretty much the only advantage it gives you. The strength of ERAU is in the ground school classes, and you can still take those if you do Aeronautics.

That said, if you do fly off-campus, make sure you do some hunting to find a good instructor. ERAU's instructors may not all be superb, but they're at least going to be decent. You can find as good or better off-campus, but you can also find worse.

I did AeroSci myself, and I don't have particular regrets about that. My regrets are more about going to the school itself, but that's another topic.

Seconded.

Look at two people certs...does it say ERAU on them anywhere?

The difference also between Aero and AeroSci is on your transcript...one line where it will say all your certificates were awarded through Riddles 141 program.

...that and the cost in the end, of course:cool: (pun not intended)
