How do the college aerobatics team work? Do you have to pay for the extra flight time for practice and competitions?

Very sweet. Congratulations! How many openings vs applicants? What did the tryout consist of?

Thanks! I think the team captain recieved 30 something resume/application papers, which was then narrowed down to the 5 new members. There was really no formal tryout, just informal occasions where the current team got to know the few out of the 30 that had a chance; and narrowed it down further from there.

This is actual not a university affiliated team. It is run and comprised of mostly SIU students though (6 out of 8 go to SIU). As of right now, none of that is really certain. The SuperD that we are using now is not owned by the team, but borrowed from an individual. They are working on fundraising for insurance, fuel, competitions, and possibly even a new airplane, depending on how things pan out.

I've been working on sportsman in a Christen Eagle and a Pitts so I'm right there with you in this stuff. Its a ton of fun!
