That's assistant to the Chief!
Alright guys we got any former or current banner tow pilots out there? and if so does anyone have the scoop on Aerial Banners Inc in Pembroke Pines, FL?

I was a banner tower in a previous life.
What do you want to know?

I live in the area. do you know if they are hiring for this summer? I know they keep a good amount of guys from year to year (as does the operation across the field, Van Wagner)

Found their job posting on the orange site

Gotcha. If its the place next to bobby's landing, I've spent many afternoons there sitting and watching the pickups and hanging out. Would definitely be a fun job for my off season from this job

the guy who called me for the interview said it was 4500

But then you gotta read the rest of my post... I'm at least interested in interviewing with these guys after what all he has told me. Now I wouldn't enter into a position if it is in fact pay to play, but I was really hoping to hear from someone who has either worked with them or had a friend who worked for them. That's why I asked the question... I didn't ask the question to be belittled by someone who has no direct link with the company or banner towing in general...

the guy who called me for the interview said it was 4500 but the fee is waived if you stay the season with them

I do not, sorry.

It's fun to watch them fly patterns outside, but other than the most basic of info I am of no help. $4500 is enough for the CFI, which if you don't have it already will give you a much higher ROI in both knowledge and cash.

I've worked there part-time (sometimes very part-time) for 4 years. I've got nothing but good things to say about the place. Training is adequate (and free btw, just don't bounce after a few months.), pays more than instructing, paycheck always on time, very fair owners, and good maintenance. I think they prefer people who are willing to work away from base. I've never done it but they pay for a place to stay, rental car, and you work like 4 days/week while on the road. They definitely want you flying by spring break in March, so I'd get on it if you want to work there. Towing banners was one of the greatest decisions I've made so far in my career. Will also make you an exceptional stick & rudder pilot.

I also am good friends with a guy who works with VW also and it seems to be a good company.

They are one of the few banner tow operators out there that aren't shady, and do things right. Van Wagner actually purchased our blimp company, which was formerly known as The Lighship Group.

We are now a part of Van Wagner. One of their former banner tow pilots is currently training on my operation to fly airships as we speak.
