You've got it backwards. The flying in the Caribbean was some of the dullest I've done, ever. Nice scenery, but it's always VFR between the same 2-3 airports every single day. I bid out after 6 months because I was afraid of losing instrument proficiency. You got me on the the jumpseating. I was more referring to the work. I'm one of those weirdos that still likes flying though...
For what it's worth. CapeAir in the states doesn't sound that exciting. CapeAir in Puerto Rico would be a hoot!
Really depends on the line. I did anywhere from 20/mo (SJU "backup") to 105/mo (northeast outstation based). Not sure about FOs.Sorry to steal the thread, but I was curious from those who have flown for cape air on average what's the TT in 1 month for captains and/or FO?
Not familiar with where cape air flies. I figured flying into smaller islands surrounding PR would be fun, especially if you had significant amount of time to yourself. You've got it backwards. If you're referring to living down there, well, that's up to you. You can live down there working for most airlines, anyway.
The variety of flying in 121 will be far greater than what you'll see at Cape, too.
Man, those 5/5 mid-Atlantic schedules were choice! I don't think I'll have that level of QOL again for a long time, if ever.I commuted out of STT for 4 months and it was rough. Based in the northeast I only flew between 25-40 hours a month but that was working 5 on/5 off or 4 on/5 off schedules. Since those have all gone away I'm sure the monthly totals are probably higher now.
